Seventy-two minutes. That's all it took for my love and admiration for tap dance and tap dancers all over the world to strengthen even more than it already is. I was looking forward to watching this movie for the first time, hearing the stories of the best tap dancers in the world today, and hearing about what tap dance means to them. I admire not only their talents, but their determination and will to tap, make music, and entertain. I also admire their penchant for communication through the dance. I feel compelled to tell all of you what tap dance means to me. It helps me communicate in a way I could never communicate with my mouth, hands, facial expressions, or pen and paper. It gives me a positive outlook on life because it makes me forget about all of the problems I have on a daily basis, all of the challenges I face, and all of the flack I get for being "that guy who just won't go away." All I have are my shoes, a floor, passion, and inspiration. I may never, ever measure up to these unbelievable human beings all over the world, but I can keep tapping. I might be a beginner, but all I can do is keep tapping. And I may be that crazy dreamer from Tennessee, but all I can do is keep tapping. What a privilege it was to watch this movie, and it is my hope that I can continue to learn and grow as a tap dancer, share my passion and knowledge with other aspiring dancers, and tell other people about my story and my journey.
