I recently realized something that might be obvious but interesting, three Wuling characters from the main plot represent some of the four symbols of Chinese mythology:
Zhuang Fangyi as the Azure Dragon (east/wood/spring)
Tangtang as the White Tiger (west/metal/autumn)
and Arcane as the Vermilion Bird (south/fire/summer)
we are missing the Black Turtle-Snake here (north/water/winter) and I'm not sure that they planned to go completely according to this concept, after all, the element of water is more suitable for Tangtang, and Fangyi is not exactly a dragon, but we all understand the concept
I like it when there's a deeper thought behind the choice of characters, with references to real culture
