27 - Mayday, Three Days Grace

Unnamed AU: Taneesha  

The door slams shut with a deafening ‘creak’, the clanging of bells ringing in Taneesha’s ears in discordant harmony as stumbles across the room, leaving tracks of water behind her across the wooden floor. 

The storm rages outside, lightning flashing in the windows as furious winds assault her office from every angle with curtains of needle-like raindrops. 

The sea is angry. Threatening to drag the entirety of the Docks into its murky depths with black waves. 

The air is muggy, and suffocating, and she can’t breathe. 

Taneesha gasps for air as she branches herself against her desk, trembling fingers biting painfully into the scratchy surface. Her free hand grasps for the collar of her best, frantically tugging at each button with trembling before moving into her soaked blouse beneath. 

She lets out a long, shuttering breath as her fingers linger over her heart, smooth ice meeting her touch instead of warm skin. She deflates like a slashed tire, strands of soggy hair clinging to pale cheeks as she traces the growing blemish beneath her clothes. 

See? She thinks to herself, gritting her teeth, she doesn’t care. She couldn’t care if she wanted to! Not about her tenets, not about her customers, not strangers, not any ‘friends’ she has left. They’re useful, they give her a thrill, fill that hole in her cold, empty heart, but she doesn’t care. Not really. 

Sure, Viking is just full of thrills and Avid’s entertaining and Drift’s kisses warm her up, but she doesn’t really love her. She doesn’t care for any of them. They’re a thrill, entertainment, nothing more, nothing less. Well, maybe a little less.

See? She doesn’t care about anyone but herself. Not her so-called ‘friends’, not her girlfriend, not her ex, and definitely not some stupid trust-fund asshole who makes the sky cry when he does.
