That Time I Took a Tumble
Have you ever missed a step and fallen? I’m not talking about that cutesy little trip where you catch yourself.  I’m talking about the kind of fall where you end up flat on the ground. I’m not the clumsiest person in the world, but every now and then I experience one of those tumbles that helps to keep my humility in check.  In fact a few days ago, while carrying something to a neighbor’s house, I lost all coordination and ended up flat on the ground.  It was bad.  After making sure I didn’t have any serious injuries, I had to do a quick look to see if anyone else saw me.  Somehow, I was in the clear.  As dramatic as that fall was to me, no one else knew it even happened.  Thinking about that experience, I realized that in life we all experience falls of many kind, but what about the ones no one sees?
As much I have experienced some physical falls, I have also experienced falls in life.  Mistakes and failures that completely threw me off balance. There have been some instances that I couldn’t hide from others, and then there are those, which only God knows. As embarrassing as mistakes and failures are when they are made public for all to see, it’s often those experiences that I end up recovering from quicker than the ones no one sees.  Think about an actual physical fall that happens in front of others.  Yes, you may have those who will get in a good chuckle, but you also have the one that’s reaching out their hand to lift you up.  You have the one that’s able to assess the injuries and give you the right bandage. You even may have that one who offers that hug and reminds you that everything is going to be okay.  The point is, falling alone may save your pride, but it may also do more damage to your progress.
My mistakes and failures are probably the HARDEST thing to share with others.  I don’t like to share about times that I had to take a test for a third time because I failed the first two.  I don’t like telling others about the time I made the mistake of procrastinating so long that I ended up missing out on a great opportunity.  But because I have learned that we weren’t made to make it through this life alone, I choose to share anyway.  Mind you, there’s no need to broadcast all of your business to the entire world (please don’t do that). However I do think it is essential to have some trusted people in your life who know when you need the hand to lift you or that special hug of comfort.  So whether you simply skipped a step, or you fell flat out on your face, know that you don’t have to face it alone.
With love from the ONE up above,
Renee
