Vivian Remar | Lycan (Bitten) | FC: Odette Annable
“If people were like rain, I was like drizzle and she was a hurricane.”
The Past
Vivian was always beautiful even as a child. Born and raised in Oakland, her mother and father fawned over their beautiful child, showing her off to the rest of the town. They raised her with the belief that you could get anything you wanted as long as you looked good doing it. So she grew up with this one belief and sure enough she ended up with everything she could ever wanted. Lots of friends, more money than she could spend, captain of the cheerleading squad, student council president and president of the town’s beautification committee. It was heaven or at least that’s what she made it look like. Vivian used to have to put on a mask in order to continue living the life her parents expected her to live, going after things she didn’t really care about. Time and time again she put aside the things she cared about just to avoid disappointing her parents.
When her mother tried to convince her to drop out of school in the 7th grade, Vivian couldn't take it anymore. That was the first time she had ever pushed back against her parents' wishes but it wasn't the last. She grew more and more stubborn, fighting with them at every turn. Eventually her mother gave up on her, retreating back into the modeling world and Vivian was left to face her father on her own. They had never been close and when she started to defy them, their relationship grew even tenser. The day she brought Eli Cael home to meet the family was the first time her father had ever struck her. She was shocked at what had just happened and she became frightened of him, worried that he would hit her again. Vivian gave in to his wishes and stopped seeing Eli without any explanation. She started dating a guy named Trevor, someone her father had picked for her. His parents and her parents were friends and they had already planned out their future together when she was merely a child.
Unfortunately, Trevor and Eli were best friends. After the boys graduated, they got an apartment together. Vivian was over there a lot, trying to get away from her parents as much as possible. It was always awkward between her and Eli even though she acted as though nothing bothered her but the feelings were still there. One accidental kiss later, Vivian felt Trevor's palm crack across her cheek. When he threatened to tell her father she pleaded with him, begging him to understand that it was an accident and nothing more. Vivian was trapped. She was dating a man who at any given notice would send her to the floor with a hit to her cheek and she was living in a home where her parents were forcing her into a certain way of living that she hated. Still there was nothing that she could do.
Things only got worse after the car accident that killed her parents. Despite how her parents treated her, she still loved them and she was absolutely devastated that they were both gone for good. She grew very detached and tried to stay away from Trevor, not in any mood to deal with him. He found her and hit her, more than usual, saying that she had been very bad by trying to hide from him. He told her that it was her fault that her parents had died and the guilt overwhelmed her. She took the beating and the little white pill he shoved into her hand later to make her feel better. She graduated from high school only a few weeks later and from there she was in a downward spiral with Trevor as her inhibitor. But her experience at keeping up appearances prevented anyone around her to see that she was in trouble and needed help.
She had tried to quit taking the pills but Trevor kept forcing them on her. One night she flushed the entire stash down the toilet and told him that she was leaving him for good this time. Trevor flew into a rage and hit her, only this time he didn’t stop. She fought him as best as she could but she wasn’t a fighter. The rest of the night is a blur and all she remembered was a pair of strong arms and a bright white light. She woke up in a hospital bed the next morning completely alone. Trevor left her a note saying that he had left. She hasn’t seen him since. It was a couple years before she saw Eli again. She had begun to turn her life around, working at the club, Animal, as a dancer. She was applying to different schools, trying to get out of this town and make something of herself. Eli coming back into her life was unexpected but not unwelcome. They were hesitant around each other at first but the chemistry between them was undeniable and eventually they gave into temptation. She could tell he was different, a bit rougher around the edges than before, it showed in the way he handled her. One night they ended up getting a little too rough and he bit her. She didn’t think anything of it until the full moon came around. She left work early that night, not feeling very well, a fever creeping through her system. That night she went through the first of many agonizingly painful transformations in to a lycan. Eli told her what she was after he found her in the woods the next morning, naked and disheveled.
The next few weeks were tense. Vivian pulled away from Eli, trying to process everything on her own like she always did ever since her parents’ death followed by Trevor’s disappearance 2 years later had left her completely on her own. When she received an acceptance letter to a school out in LA, she decided to leave, packing up her belongings. She left Eli a note taped to his front door telling her that she was leaving for school, keeping the details of where she would be going to a bare minimum. After that, she was gone.
The Present
Three years have passed since Vivian had left Oakland. She had pretty much focused on school and her new job out in LA, keeping to herself as she tried to lead something of a normal life. She was able to finish her degree in only three years. With graduation on the horizon she was very proud that she had managed to go through this without hurting anyone but she spoke too soon. On the eve of her graduation she broke free of her restraints and ran through the city. She didn’t remember hardly anything from that night but when she woke up, she was in some girl’s apartment, a dead body lying on the bed beside her, torn to shreds. Vivian grabbed some clothes to cover herself and hightailed it out of there, heading to her own apartment to pack everything up, loading it into her car. As soon as she walked across that stage, she left, not bothering with any goodbyes. She didn’t have anywhere else to go except back to Oakland. Her parents’ house hadn’t been sold, but after everything she still couldn’t bring herself to live in that place. She stayed in a hotel the first night and found a place to buy the next morning, moving in as quickly as she could. After getting her job back at the club she went about her life like normal, wondering when she would see that familiar face of his again. Unfortunately, confronting Eli will be the least of her problems, she just doesn’t know it yet.
Connections:
Had a fling with Eli Cael, he was the one who turned her into a lycan in order to create his pack. Used to pick on Olivia Le Mountain in high school when she was a different person but lately she’s been seeking forgiveness, although apologizing isn’t her forte. Gets along with her pack most of the time, although a few fights have broken out between her and Parker Leeth before. Works as a dancer at the local night club in town, Animal.
