it's been a while since i've really thought about taimizu but i do still love mizu, bes, and this ship. as for headcanons, i think they're mostly the same ones i've talked about in the past! but i'm not sure if i've actually posted about it on here or just discussed it in the taimizu discord ages ago so here they are:

mizu is nonbinary but doesn't have the language for it. i'd like to say that if it was modern day she'd probably be agender or genderfluid using she/they pronouns but honestly she'd still be growing up poor in conservative rural japan so i think she still wouldn't have the language for it even in modern day.

with that being said, i think mizu still dresses and behaves as a man even after taigen discovers their identity and even after the two of them get together. by all intents and purposes they are essentially male lovers to the outside world and to each other.

they spend all their spare time training and sparring but it's always super aggressive and they prefer it that way bcs they're freaks who love a good challenge lol.

they like debating philosophy, specifically the buddhist philosophy that they learned as part of their training.

mizu gets jealous easily and taigen at first teases them about it but then it becomes a genuine argument and taigen learns to ease up. the thing about him is that he's a jerk and an asshole but mizu always makes him want to be a better person.

taigen loves shopping and mizu hates it but tags along anyway.

mizu likes music and watching theatre! so that's what their dates often comprise.

mizu is good at composing haikus, or, well, the proto-haiku (hokku) considering what we consider the modern haiku did not exist in the edo period iirc. anyway. taigen being himself tries to be better than mizu at this but fails. he asks akemi for help and she laughs at him but helps him write erotic poetry which he is too embarrassed to ever read out to mizu but he never has it in him to throw the paper away.

sometimes they just spend their time in silence meditating together. mizu loves those times bcs the silence is not awkward or cold but peaceful and comfortable.

they love going on hikes together! taigen likes to recite lines from the sutras during these hikes, the same way he recited the line about mount sumeru in episode 3.

I'm happy they're throwing us a bone after such a long time, but at the same time... incredibly sad that Taigen WON'T be going to London with Mizu.

I wrote a lengthy post in which I explained why him staying in Japan would be a waste of a potential character development. Furthermore, his relationship with Mizu would have little chance to evolve, since they won't be... like... seeing each other for a long time?

It's XVIIth century we're talking about, so the mere journey to London would take almost a year. One way! It means it will be at least TWO years before Mizu reunites with the rest of the party.

Of course there are great plots in the history of the animation, where the main character separates from his friends for a long time, then comes back and everything is changed - Naruto and One Piece being great examples of how well it played out.

But with Mizu I'm a bit sceptical. I don't doubt the talents of Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, but I still hoped Mizu would be accompanied by at least ONE of her companions - if not Taigen, then Ringo - to London. In comparison to Naruto or Luffy her friendships aren't fully developed - they've just started to form. Started! So... separating her from everybody now kind of ruins the continuity of the plot for me, I guess? Let's just hope it will play better than I expect.

Of course, this could also be a HUGE bluff, and the creators do plan to send someone else to London, but after an episode or two, the way we don't suspect anything.

We know from experience how they love to manipulate viewers perceptions - in season one they made us believe Mizu was living as a man her whole life and never tried normal life, but in episode five- BAM! We got flashbacks of her being married. It was brilliant how they kept it from us for such a long time. Perhaps that's the plan for the next season as well? Make us believe she's all alone in London, then suddenly she gets company?

We also know that they love to create confusion in the interviews - they've said, ages ago, how much they want to continue their Mizu- Taigen - Akemi love triangle, and there was a sugesstion of Mizu kissing Akemi in season two, which caused a lot of raised eyebrows in the fandom, because it would be quite difficult to execute, with Mizu leaving for London and all.

Anyway, I'm a bit worried now, but still hopeful in some way. Give me a legit trailer, dammit!

What does this kind of person think the "enemies to lovers" trope even means?! ENEMIES! Enemies aren't nice to each other! Every time a real "enemies to lovers" trope comes out, it's the same thing! Idiots who know nothing about this trope open their stupid mouths!
