okay this is kind of triggering so you can definitely skip over it if this isn’t your jam so TRIGGER WARNING FOR SUICIDE MENTION/SUICIDAL FEELINGS imagine suicidal park jimin who’s deemed unstable by his family because he tried to drown himself in his bathtub and gets checked into a psych ward. uncaring about anyone or anything, he lives out his days miserably until he meets kim taehyung whose smile might be a reason worth living.

taehyung is also a ghost.

jimin thinks he’s going crazy at first (and what a joke, being crazy on top of wanting to die, he was just born broken wasn’t he?) hearing just voices at first, then feeling a slight cold breeze until taehyung finally appears before him. he freaks out and ignores him but he can’t deny how much he’s drawn to the ghost of this exuberant happy boy who has such a love for life despite being dead. they slowly begin to bond and jimin starts to smile again - the doctors think that their treatments must be working (lol as if) but it’s really taehyung who’s making him feel happy, making him feel alive. the irony right? but it turns bittersweet the stronger his feelings grow because he finds himself wanting to link pinkies with taehyung to wrap his arms around him and just breathe him in (and who WANTS to do shit like that it’s just a testament of how hopelessly in love he is for wanting to act like a sap) but every time he reaches out, his hands meet nothing. it’s so unfair, the one person who he wants to live his life with, isn’t able to live it with him.

‘maybe it would be better if i died,’ he sobs to taehyung one day who looks absolutely heart-broken. ‘because then i could at least be with you.’

‘there’s so much the world has to offer for you. don’t give it all up for me,’ taehyung begs and jimin just laughs at that because taehyung IS his entire world.

i….don’t want to talk about this any more but there’s no way that this could end happily T__T

also idk how you feel about alpha/beta/omega dynamics but like! taehyung as a high ranking alpha whose from a clan with old, powerful blood and is expected to step up as one of the leaders one day. jimin is his childhood friend and just a beta but they’ve been in love their whole lives and they’ve been slowly deciding how to present it to the council because they haven’t imprinted on each other but they love each other and they want to be together forever despite what biology wants. but it’s their biology that runs their bodies so when taehyung imprints on omega jeongguk, jimin’s heart breaks because of COURSE It makes sense because the two of them have such good genes they were meant for each other. and taehyung HATES IT because his body tells him it wants jeon & his scent but it feels so wrong because his heart only?? wants jimin?? naturally his family is happy because jeongguk is a strong omega who would make a wonderful mate but taehyung doesn’t WANT THIS.

‘let’s run away together,’ he tells jimin one day, desperate because his parents keep insisting that it’s time to ‘bond’ with jeongguk and he CAN’T he just can’t he belongs to jimin. ‘it could just be me and you, in the woods. no one else has to be with us.’ and god does that sound tempting. jimin’s heart has been slowly breaking every day as the inevitable comes closer - the day when taehyung officially belongs to someone else. he wants to run away from everything because nothing is more important than taehyung but it’s BECAUSE nothing is more important than taehyung that he can’t. he knows how much taehyung loves his pack, what a social creature taehyung is, how important his family is. he knows that if they run, they’ll be exiled, it really will just be the two of them forever, unable to join other packs and never being able to see their families again.

jimin can’t do that to taehyung.

so when hoseok, a lesser-ranked alpha comes to him with a request to court him, jimin says yes. because it’s the right thing to do. WOW I’M NOT EVEN THAT INTO A/B/O BUT THIS REALLY….MAKES ME SO SAD BECAUSE DESTINY GOING AGAINST THEM BUT THE TWO OF THEM WANTING TO FIGHT IT ANYWAYS BUT JIMIN GIVING UP EVEN T HOUGH HE LOVE SHIM I HATE THIS I HAT EMYSELF

alright here’s another one. idk if there are any xxxholic fans around (sorry i am anime trash down to my very core) but just picture some obscure universe where magic is commonplace jimin is dying & there’s nothing taehyung or any of their friends can do to save me, some incurable unknown disease that no known potion, remedy, or spell can heal. desperate, taehyung takes jimin to the space witch & begs for her to save him.

the thing with the space witch though is that when you wish for something, you have to give something up of equal value in order for that wish to come true. the witch stares at taehyung, the way he’s gripping jimin’s pale, limp body desperately and asks him quietly ‘what is he to you?’

‘everything,’ taehyung sobs. the space witch’s eyes soften.

‘what will you give up for him?’ taehyung brushes the bangs from jimin’s forehead and presses a shaky kiss to his skin.

‘everything.’

so the space witch saves jimin but takes away taehyung’s love for him :’) he can’t love him, not in this universe at least. taehyung can physically feel a gaping hole in his chest, right where jimin belongs. he can’t go near him, can’t touch him, can’t do anything without his chest starting to squeeze painfully, robbing him of his breath, reminding him of the cost he paid for jimin’s life.

and it’s fine. it’s fine. jimin’s alive. that’s all that matters.  he keeps telling this to himself because of course he still loves jimin he just can’t….say anything or act on it, even the thought of jimin sends him spiralling into pain. so he goes on with life, pretending it doesn’t hurt, not even noticing the way jimin stares at him with a broken expression, wondering what happened to make tae act like this.

ok this one….is the long one….and before you ask NO this is not a WIP this is just an idea i’ve always had for the two of them…..

ALRIGHT let me tell you my sad android AU feelings!!! this is just like general because i’m not good with specifics my liberal arts brain cannot take it. but imagine in a society where robotics has come so far in technology?? robots are commonplace in society, from the bot that helps you get your groceries to the high functioning robots that are laboratory assistants. in this current robo-age, the hot new thing is ‘androids’ creating robots that don’t have a functions programmed into them but are actual sentient beings - creating life. it’s controversial but it’s setting the scientific world on fire and taehyung and jimin are right in the middle of it. graduating at the same time, with taehyung focusing on coding while jimin is good with the actual machinery (his original plan was to work in cyborg rehabilitation where he helps humans get used to their new robotic arms/legs) and they both find themselves working in this REALLY famous korean robotics lab. they’re just grunts in the beginning, helping out the rest of the scientists, jimin building spare parts often and taehyung doing some basic coding but they both get recognized pretty quickly for jimin’s beautiful craftsmanship and taehyung’s brilliant mind. when it comes to androids, jimin’s not sure how he feels about it. a robot acting like a person? robots are cool and all and he respects t hem as much as you can respect a machine that was built to assist him (he does have a soft spot for the matching HAROs taehyung had him made because his best friend is such a nerd that he needs the robots from the gundam series made for him) but he’s content to work with what works - he can’t even imagine how you could make a robot that was basically human.

taehyung on the other hand has always been thinking about it. taehyung loves all creatures, robots included. ‘ROBOTS ARE PEOPLE TOO’ he likes to shout whenever he sees another news report of a bunch of bots going out of commission. jimin always calmly reminds him that they’re not actually people but tae knows that bots can get personalities he can FEEL it in the inflection in those mechanic voices, he knows that android technology is possible and he’s gonna do w hatever he can to pursue it, to find it, he’s gonna be one of the ones that’s gonna be making breakthroughs.

so when one of the most respected  head scientists invites taehyung to be part of the new project he’s leading that’s meant to focus solely on android science, taehyung immediately jumps at the opportunity. jimin is kind of unhappy that tae won’t be working alongside him anyways but he’s made friends at the company and hoseok hyung is into cyborg tech too! so taehyung moves his stuff to the VERY top floor of the company and starts spending way more time at the company, even staying nights. jimin plays with the HAROs their dogs soonshim and sangdol while he waits up for taehyung. some nights he falls asleep on the couch and wakes up to taehyung slipping in for a quick shower only, bringing them both breakfast from their favorite diner that opens at 4am, a sure sign he hasn’t slept yet.

“did you spend the night there again?” jimin has asked so many times it’s almost pointless to ask but he does anyways. tae always looks so tired, tanned skin paling a little, bags under his eyes but always still smiling. “the science is so fascinating jiminnie! i would tell you about it but - “ jimin interrupts “top secret yeah i know. i wouldn’t understand half the coding shit you’d talk about anyways.” taehyung just smiles at him and jimin is glad, even with all the work he’s doing and all the sleep he’s not getting, that taehyung still has it in him to smile. “how long do you have?” tae says he’s got an hour and jimin decides he’s going to spend half of it sleeping. he lets the taller boy fall asleep in his lap, running his fingers through his hair, grateful for peaceful moments like this.

a few months go by like this. jimin gets closer to and forms a group with hoseok his boyfriend yoongi and seokjin (who’s been at the company for a while) and new addition jeon jeongguk who’s AMAZING at creating sleek and modern designs that jimin’s sure his stuff is going to be top of the line in a few years. they’re having their weekly ritual of thursday night chicken and beer when taehyung bursts in, looking like a madman, and kisses jimin enthusiastically. everyone stops and stares and jimin goes into silent cardiac arrest as tae announces loudly that they’ve made a breakthrough. namjoon, another coder working on the case, follows taehyung hurriedly and slaps a hand over tae’s mouth in case he blabs everything in a state of delirium. apparently they have made a breakthrough, a big enough breakthrough to present to this big conference in norway. of course taehyung is going. there is so much stress, in hectic planning for the trip that pretty soon it’s only two days until the conference and they haven’t really discussed the kiss at all but it’s gotten to the point where they sleep in the same bed and friendly touches become lingering and they don’t kiss again but sometimes jimin catches himself staring too long at taehyung’s mouth. part of jimin wants taehyung to bring it up because HE kissed him not the other way around. but the night before, taehyung finally has time to just relax with him and it’s just the two of them so jimin figures he might, ‘you know i’m gonna miss you right?’ and taehyung just looks at him soft eyes FULL of affection and says, ‘i’m going to think about you every day.’

and jimin thinks that this is enough for now, they can pick back up when taehyung gets back, when his life is a little less hectic, when they have time for just the two of them.

he never gets a chance.

the first week it’s fine, taehyung sends him video messages every day with a sleepy namjoon in the background of their shared hotel room, as they’re prepping for a conference. the conference comes and goes and disheartened taehyung tells him that while their breakthrough is definitely something to look into, they aren’t getting any funding for further research because the board needs more than just theory, they need some solid proof, a prototype (“which is so fucking stupid because we’re ASKING for money to BUILD those fucking protoypes,” taehyung rants at him) apparently the head professor wants to try to appeal to them and their trip is delayed another week while they work at one of his friend’s labs in iceland.

then the messages stop coming.

jimin’s not worried at first because tae probably got caught up with all the work but suddenly it’s getting close to a whole month without communication and he’s got a bad feeling about all of this. he and the others try talking to some senior members at the company but they’re brushed off coldly saying that everything is fine and to focus on their own work. one month turns into three and jimin is ready to try to get the authorities involved because taehyung would not just leave him hanging like this (and namjoon wouldn’t do this to seokjin) but one day, pale-faced and red-eyed, seokjin comes to this door at 3 in the morning with a voice message from namjoon. it’s in poor quality and distorted (which is suspicious in itself bc they clearly have the technology to send something better) and they can’t hear the message properly but they DO hear the panic and fear in namjoon’s voice through the static, deciphering ‘he’s gone crazy’ and ‘we can’t get out’  and then jimin feels the whole world come crashing down when he hears taehyung’s voice, broken and teary, just saying his name. ‘jimin jimin jimin please - ‘

it cuts off there and seokjin and jimin know they can’t just ignore this but they can’t??? trust the company either??? so they do what they should’ve done all along and finally go to them. it takes a lot of work, sneaking around, and gathering people who are like-minded and worried about their colleagues who are also just as concerned about the state of everything and the other people besides taehyung who are on the research team. they finally find out the location of a very isolated private lab t hat the head scientist has in iceland and jimin joins the ragtag ‘rescue team’ to go and recover them.

what they find is horrifying.

the lab is too quiet when they first  walk in (more like break themselves in) but as they walk further in, they heard someone’s crazed muttering echoing in the empty halls. they go into this huge lab where they find the head scientist, looking deranged, muttering to himself, ‘they need to be human, they need to be human’ tinkering with a robot in front of him.

it’s namjoon.

or what’s left of namjoon - it’s clearly him, the same face they know and love but from the neck down he’s robotic (THINK OF THE ROBOT THINGS FROM VIXX’S ‘ERROR’ MV) seokjin lets out a horrified scream and the doctor turns away, eyes wide like a maniac. someone - jaebum jimin thinks- tackles him to the ground and seokjin stumbles to namjoon, grasping at him, crying out his name over and over. jimin goes further into the lab only to find the rest of the team, in similar states to namjoon, some incomplete, some of their bodies mutilated. he can hear people behind him throwing up, but he’s numb, searching carefully through the bodies looking for taehyung. oh god, taehyung. he waited too long, why did he wait so long, he’s never going to forgive himself -

he can’t find him and he stumbles back to where the scientist is so screaming madly at jaebum and the others who are restraining him. ‘where’s taehyung,’ he says blankly, grabbing him by the neck. ‘where is he.’

his mad eyes light up and he babbles ‘v, yes v, my only success - ‘

‘who the fuck is v? where’s taehyung?’

a voice answers him from behind, so familiar and so loved, but so foreign at the same time, deep voice slightly robotic. ‘i am v.’

jimin turns around and it’s TAEHYUNG but it’s NOT because he’s….a fucking android or whatever the fuck that namjoon is but a more complete one because taehyung looks like he did when jimin told him goodbye except not because his eyes are a glowing cyan and there are wires sticking from his back and oh god -

jimin steps towards him shakily. ‘taehyung?’ he asks. ‘taehyung’ tilts his head at him.

‘i do not recognize that name. i am called v. may i know your name?’

and jimin loses it.

eventually, when they call the police and go through the scientist’s notes, that he was trying to figure out the key to formulating the human-like quality in a potential android but he figured if he started from a human and worked backwards, making the human more robotic, he could create an android. he experimented on the team. taehyung is the only real success. taehyung only responds to v, and has no memories of his human life, no memories of jimin. jimin can’t even be around him but v is ever the helpful robot, answering all their questions, informing them exactly what the scientist did to them, in such a clipped and clinical manner jimin wants to scream. namjoon is ‘RM’ and is apparently not broken (‘i understand your meaning of dead but that does not apply to RM. he is just off right now. he malfunctions a lot.’ v tells a distraught seokjin) and a couple of others N (hakyeon) and L (myungsoo) also have limited abilities. but v is the only one that can walk and talk. it’s almost like he’s actually taehyung but then jimin looks into his eyes and he knows he’s not.

he can pretend though, can’t he?

there was supposed to be more to this but i forgot about this ask, it was literally sitting in my google docs untouched & now i’m lazy sO I’M SORRY I’M SORRY GO WRITE THIS BC I CAN’T AND I WON’T BC I LOVE MYSELF AND ALSO SCIFIC IS TOO DIFFICULT FOR ME but so much pain bc they never even got to say i love you or even start their lives together before this happened :’)))) and just imagine jimin living with android v & making little slip ups, still calling him taehyung & just….crying bc he looks so much like him and sometimes he’ll do things that make jimin wonder if any part of taehyung’s memories are still there but then v will take in his formal way & that hope just gets crushed….I’M SORRY IM A BAD PERSON
