Joey  Sangford  is  the  longstanding  official  tour  photographer  for  Tackspit, a  hardcore  band based out of the Bay Area.  He  met  the  lead  singer,  Johnny  Ballard,  through  frequenting  local  house  shows  when  the  two  were  in  their  late  teens.  Tackspit  was  just  beginning,  and  had  yet  to  release  a  full  length  album.  Joey’s  photography  hobby  was  barely  starting  to  turn  into  something  more.  A  bit  of  a  side  gig  to  earn  some  extra  cash,  get  some  practice  in,  figure  out  how  to  capture  whatever  the  hell  was  going  on  in  those  poorly  lit  basements.  The  two  became  fast  friends,  spending  their  free  time  loitering  in  skate  parks  and  going  to  shows.  Joey  began  to  regularly  shoot  some  of  Tackspit’s  earlier  gigs,  and  quickly  was  able  to  develop  a  highly distinct concert  photography  style that was deeply original  ──  and  highly  sought  after.  Most  of  the  local  underground  hardcore  scene  during  that  time  period  was  preserved  through  his  lens,  and  by  the  time  Tackspit  began  to  tour,  Johnny  thought  there  was  no  better  person  to  bring  along  on  the  road  to  capture  the  mayhem.
