Retail therapy post
I don’t know what it is about a fire that is so calming, light and warmth and hearth. it doesn’t matter that I’m a shitty housekeeper or work is creeping up tomorrow or any of that. For the moment, the anxiety is at bay, the orange meatball sleeping behind me and the place lit by nothing but fairy lights and the fire.
For my fellow Yule celebrants in a home without a fireplace, although it does not accommodate a log, I commend you this tabletop version, made by 1Man1Garage. One of these fuel cells stays lit for about 2, 2.5 hours (the 2.6 oz is the recommended size, that goes for about 45 minutes to an hour; the one I’m using is slightly bigger - 3.8 oz - but still sits down in the box properly and doesn’t overheat the glass. The 7-ounce ones are too big) The crappy video below is how it looks in a home environment:
