LOL she makes me so bitter omg
@tabbycas @tahmoh I’d tag the other person from our chat but I forgot their URL anyway this is a fix-it for Mary’s actions
"How dare you get my boys hurt!"
The voice takes them all by surprise as Jodi, calm, unflappable Jodi, stalks into the diner with the scariest look on her face that Dean has ever seen. When Mary had finally come forwards about her associations with the British Men of Letters (well, more like when Mary had been caught in the act) it had become clear to the Winchesters that the Men of Letters were more powerful than they'd anticipated.
The solution had been to collect some of the best hunters in the US, strengthen their network, and tackle the British chapter as a united front. But neither Sam nor Dean really wanted to step up and lead, Mary was clearly out of the running, so that left Jodi Mills. By now she was well-known (and well-liked) among the community and seemed the perfect candidate for the job.
All that was left was to catch her up to speed.
The Winchesters had been updating her regularly. She knew about most everything, from when Sam was extra gassy to the scarier hunts they'd been on. After all, Jodi was practically their mom. And, unlike their real mom, was more insistent on keeping up a regular communication. They'd known, of course, that hearing about how they'd been lead into a bad hunt against a Prince of Hell would worry her, but they didn't expect--
"What the hell were you thinking?" Jodi swung a fist, hard and unexpected, which collided solidly with Mary's nose. The whole table sprung into action, Dean tugging Mary out of harms way, Sam standing to restrain Jodi. It was, Sam found, surprisingly difficult. The only person who didn't move was Cas, clearly plotting out what his next move should be.
"Who the hell are you?" snapped Mary, blood flowing from her nose.
"I'm their mom," Jodi replied, fighting against Sam.
"Like hell you are," Mary scoffed. It was the same sort of tactic Dean would use when he felt guilty, trying to shift the blame around and Dean tried frantically to quiet her, to no avail. "I'm their mother. Their real one."
"Well," Jodi shot back with pure venom, "I'm the one who's never almost gotten them killed."
Everyone freezes, looking between Jodi and Mary for a reaction. Then Donna jogs in.
"Sorry 'bout that!" she called cheerfully, "Jodi said she had some business to attend to, so I dropped her off at the door to look for parking and--"
Donna froze as she took the scene in, Dean restraining a bleeding Mary, Sam restraining a furious Jodi, Cas nervously helping himself to one of Dean's pancakes. "What on earth do we have here?"
"She's the one who almost got the boys killed!" Jodi snarled.
"Oh..." Donna whispers quietly, "hell no."
Cas didn't get to finish his pancake as Donna lunged for Mary too, managing to catch her just after she managed to land a punch. (Whether or not this delay in reaction was on purpose was never revealed).
"Lemme guess," Mary muttered, somewhat chagrined, "You're their mom too?"
"Oh, no," Donna said. Mary relaxed slightly, but Donna added, tone more serious than the Winchesters had ever heard her, "I'm their aunt."
