Emmrich: Really? I thought you might disapprove of the skull motif.
Taash: What? No! It's on fire! Skulls are fine if they're on fire.

They’d asked Lucanis what Rook liked to eat. It was something they’d done with Shathaan, like they’d always had isskap on Tuesdays. Something to show Rook what a good friend they were. He’d showed them how to make Rook’s favorite drink, and they’d practiced until they’d gotten it right. Lace had been happy to taste test it with her, and that had been nice too. They liked theirs with a little sprinkle of pepper, to make it just a little hot, but Rook was from Nevarra, and they weren’t always that good with spice.
Taash popped their head in the main doors.
“Hey. Rook,” they said. “Come on. If you want.”
They laid their book aside facedown on the arm of the couch, sat up.
‘What’s going on, Taash?” they asked.
“Made something for you,” Taash said. “Come on.”
They got up and followed them to the kitchens, where Taash poured them two mugs of cioccolata calda, and they walked up the stairs in the kitchen to the little platform, where they could sit together, overlooking the Fade.
It was rich and sweet, with a hint of bitterness, and Rook sighed happily as they sipped it with the slick glass of the cup warming both of their hands.
“Asked Lucanis how to make it,” proffered Taash. “I wanted to do something nice for you. He said it was your favorite.”
