You give me tingles.

Not in my fingertips, full of excitement and nerves

Not down my spine from your breath on my neck

Not in my toes with wiggles and laughter

Not in my nose from the cold winter’s air

You give me tingles from my chest to my heels, my body telling me to run but my heart begging me to stay, just one more time.

I just want to know what it feels like to be kissed

is it rushed and fast and wet; lips dancing and pulling in an eager attempt to stay connected

or is it soft and sickly sweet like cherry lollipops and wispy candy floss against your tongue

where will I put my hands, and them theirs?

on my waist, or wrapped in the wrinkles of my off-white t-shirt, or around my neck, or softly brushing my cheek, or tangled in my hair, unsure if they want to pull closer or pull away

will I know when to close my eyes, or will I close them at all?

will it be a quick peck where our lips barely graze, or will it linger a bit longer, tasting and promising more

I just want to know what it feels like to be kissed so I no longer have to admit

18 and never been kissed

soft as rose petals and smiles and butterfly wings

are your fingertips as they hold me dear

pulling close to your face and your misty grey eyes

so that I can see each individual freckle as a constellation on your cheeks

the infamous ‘you’ that plagues my dreams

and my thoughts and my memories and my speech and my poetry

‘you’, who makes my heart swell up like a bubble

and burst into a thousand tiny pieces that will lay around forever

a constant reminder of you.

I have a million ‘you’’s and even more pieces

scattered in my mind, 

holding my thoughts prisoner

as I imagine you.
