          it’s a powder blue scrunchie, a bit oversized & with a bow on it. she hadn’t realized it fell out of her bag, but it is one of her favorites. a smile spreads over her features, as she gently takes the hair accessory. “oh, thanks! jeez, i would’ve been looking for this -- thank you.”

              connor was one to remember a face. or, he had multiple citizenship records available in his data base that he’s able to access at any time. one isn’t pulling up for this particular individual, though they don’t seem to be quite an android, either.

 𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐒𝐓  𝐈𝐒  𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑.  robin  left  a  few  minutes  ago,  the  lobby’s  vacant  aside  from  them,  and  —  as  far  as  steve  can  tell  —  no  one’s  loitering  outside.  he  could  kiss  never;  part  of  him  wants  to.  truth  be  told,  the  urge  isn’t  hard  to  come  by.  sometimes,  all  it  takes  is  a  look  and,  just  like  that,  steve’s  giving  pavlov’s  dog  a  run  for  its  money.  the  upside?  it’s  mutual,  as  far  as  he  can  tell,  at  least  when  it  comes  to  kissing  and  what  that  usually  leads  to.  steve  isn’t  so  sure  about  the  knots  in  his  stomach  or  the  way  never  stays  with  him  even  when  he’s  gone.  in  fact,  he  hopes  that  part  isn’t  mutual.  otherwise,  their  little  arrangement  is  a  disaster  waiting  to  happen.

 ❝  y’know,  as  thrilling  as  it  is  to  play  tonsil  hockey  with  you  while  i’m  on  the  clock,  it’s  gonna  get  me  fired  if  it  keeps  happening.  ❞  steve  gives  never  a  feigned  glare  from  behind  the  front  counter  as  he  opens  the  cash  drawer.  he’s  pretty  sure  he’s  lying.  as  far  as  he  knows,  keith  doesn’t  check  the  security  footage  unless  a  customer  complains.  even  then,  it’s  hit  or  miss.  keith  takes  to  responsibility  like  a  cat  to  water.  ❝  so,  unless  you  can  beat  three  bucks  an  hour,  you  might  wanna  consider  a  little  patience.  ❞

 a  few  moments  pass  and  the  urge  is  still  there,  successfully  distracting  him  from  counting  the  bills  in  his  hands  steve  knows  he  doesn't  stand  a  chance.  he  drops  them   back  into  the  drawer  and  his  gaze  snaps  to  never's.  ❝  you're  bad  for  business,  you  know  that?  ❞  without  waiting  for  a  response,  steve  reaches  over  the  counter  takes  hold  of  never's  shirt  to  pull  him  closer.  their  lips  meet  at  the  halfway  point  between  them.  it's  not  something  steve  should  get  used  to.  that  doesn't  make  him  want  it  any  less.
