I like a substantial amount of old movies, but none of them are bad (the first one to jump to mind was harold and maude) but then I thought back to the movies I watched with my dad as a kid, including solaris in russian (which I do not speak) and a bunch of old polish movies. out of those, I think this was my favourite:Â http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054359/

you can't just answer all the questions in a single post. wheres the fun for the rest of us who want to ask you personal (but approved) questions??
this is true. steve has a habit of asking me to answer all of them, but I should wait an hour or two before doing that to give everyone else a chance ;)
that said, I’m open to answering non-approved questions :p
89. What is the nicest thing anyone has said to you?
I’ll give a few answers, because I like to think about good things
one of the most beautiful things that m has ever said to me was about my skin. my acne (including scarring...) has been a huge mess for about 3 years now, and a big source of insecurity for me. m, knowing this, compares the indents on my cheeks to the insides of warm, fluffy bread that’s been freshly cut. I cannot explain how good that makes me feel.Â
I really love teaching. one of the best compliments I’ve ever received was having students who weren’t mine attend my tutorial 5 weeks into the semester, and then, after class, come up to me and ask if they can come again next week. I’ve also had students shake my hand at the end of a semester, hug me, and give me a christmas card.Â
I got to read a letter of recommendation that my supervisor wrote for me, detailing my aptitudes for research and critical thinking. I think my favourite part was reading her description of how I cooperate with and teach others in the lab. that really made my week.Â
hearing “you didn’t deserve that” and “it wasn’t your fault” always always always feels like the truest form of love.Â
and honestly, I get warmed anytime anyone calls me kind.
oh god. my favourite “invented” word I’ve ever come across has been “fucktional”, to describe a state where you feel all messed up but can probably still manage your daily routine. so I wish I could come up with something equally good.Â
etymologically, I really like sympathy (sum pathos) and compassion (cum pathos) so uhh I’m thinking out loud here as to what word I would like to come up with
actually, scratch that. I want “amygdalaic” to be a word for when your amygdala is acting up and anxiety overwhelms you and you know there’s no reason to feel this awful anxiety or be experiencing these flashbacks but you just are and you can’t calm down

obvious answer: goats. I recently found out about ice worms and I think those are neat. I also like dogs. I have necklaces with owls and octopuses on them and my name in my friend’s iphone is just an octopus emoticon. so yeah. those are nice. hedgehogs are adorable.Â
U - Favourite time of year, and why
