Sylvain transferred to the house because he wanted to get closer to Byleth. Ends up falling in love with her but becomes unrequited because Byleth happily ends up with Claude.

And to know she is in love with him in this life, Sylvain vows here and now that he will dedicate his everything to make her the happiest woman for the many lives to come.
