weird codependent victor combo Peeta and Johanna cuz they were tortured together

Honestly, I don’t think too much about Peeta as I do with other characters, but I’ve gotta say the Victors who were taken by the Capitol have some of the most interesting dynamics that I wish could’ve been explored more (though that would’ve been hard given we are limited to Katniss’ pov) (johanna book when)
This line has always stuck out to me in particular though. While Jo plays it off with her usual kind of dramatic defenses, it is kind of a horrifying thing to visualize
The Capitol knows that one of the best methods of torture is to hurt someone you care about . Especially where you can see/hear it happening . And while I don’t see Johanna caring for Peeta in the way other people do (and I don’t mean that as a dig at Jo, honestly she is just kind of hard to read in that regard but I do see her as having that kind of “stray cat who kinda trusts you because you feed her” kind of energy around Finnick and to a lesser degree around Katniss and Peeta) i think that , especially post capture and rescue, they are probably bonded together in a really messy way. Mutual trauma that goes past being in the arena together to an insane degree
Both Johanna and Peeta are the type who can take being hurt but can’t stand it when witnessing other people in the same/similar situations , which makes hearing each other being tortured a special brand of mind-fuckery for them. Peeta in particular.
I think it would’ve been nice for them to have more scenes together . Or even for Johanna to get sen t with the squad and be another aid to help him calm down (in her own Johanna Mason way). Idk. Just something to chew on.
