Meanwhile, I told my father about the #illridewithyou tag on Twitter in the morning and how people were protecting Muslims from backlash and he said, "Why the hell would they need to do that? We need to get rid of the whole lot of them" and this is an educated liberal man, and he was not fucking joking. 

I'm so happy with all the positive response with the #illridewithyou. People are finally waking up and beginning to understand each other in a way that only a few have before. Maybe the world isn't as lost as I thought it was. 

I just want to say how lucky we are as Australians that we have such a willing police force. It might not feel like it most of the time, but it's events like this that makes you realise that we have a good police force who genuinely care for our lives and wellbeing, unlike a lot of other countries
