Traveling Stripper Advice:
Clothes to bring to an audition
Bikini top (even if you never wear these some clubs require this to audition)
Multiple g-strings (some clubs require that you wear 2 layers of g-strings, fr. other clubs require that you wear a g-strings with one inch wide straps- this is what they mean when they say “regulation” thongs or “t-bars.” bring at least 2 regulation and 2 regular width g-strings. both are available at any dance wear shop)
A short dress (basic as possible- i.e. no mesh or fishnet, one shitty corporate club I worked at for a month tried to ban mesh outfits)
A long dress (same advice as the short dress. by long dress they mean almost floor length btw. And tbh I don’t bring these anymore bc I know I hate the politics of gown clubs and refuse to work at them but maybe you’ll love them or every club in the city you’re visiting requires them. Better safe than sorry.)
A wrap or robe (some clubs make you cover your butt cheeks on the floor, so if you don’t already have one of these, a long scarf-like beach cover up can be okay but to play it safe I always bring one of those vs silk robes that are just above knee length. They sell them at dance wear stores too. They kind of remind me of the robes that wrestlers wear before they get in the ring. They’re great tho. They keep you warm on the floor and hide your food baby when you’re just sitting and talking and don’t need to be on.)
2 pairs of pleaser heels (bring at least one pair of 7” or higher- some clubs have a rule that your heels have to be this high- and another pair is nice to have in case your other pair breaks or doesn’t match a new outfit- try to bring heels that are black or neutral and can match with anything AND that are comfortable for you: preferably ones you’ve already broken-in/ danced in)
Garters! (Bring multiple! Bring at least 2, perferably in black or another color that matches most of your outfits. avoid sequined ones if you have sensitive thigh skin. maybe garters aren’t your style but certain clubs require that you wear them or they don’t allow you to carry a bag on the floor so this will be your wallet for the night- honestly it’s not that bad, no more organizing money at the end of the night or worrying that someone’s going to steal your bag)
Wristlet, small purse, crown royal type bag (as much as some clubs don’t allow them I’m sure there are some clubs that require you have a small bag on the floor- who knows? This is how I prefer to carry my money at work so I always bring a bag I like and a crown royal bag in case something happens to my normal bag)
A few go to outfits (I am a body suit stripper, so even if I have to audition in a bikini top and g-string I’m going to change in to one once I get hired. Wear what makes you feel powerful. Also fuck club dress codes, it’s a fucking strip club)
The point of being prepared with the right clothing is to avoid buying the over priced house mom gear as much as possible. You didn’t go on a strip trip to buy $20 g-strings and ugly dresses you’ll never wear again. Also the more prepared you are the more likely you are to get hired and be able to work that night.
