Lava Cake with Nutella surprise
Lava cakes are gooey and luscious yet so easy to prepare, and for a baking enthusiast myself, it was the first cake I have done [successfully] so far in my life since the last attempt I did way back few years ago. So, I made some last July as a birthday treat to myself. Yes, the following photos are 3 month old since I couldn’t win a perfect time to post. But to document this part of my 2014 birthday here we go.
So these are the ingredients and a candid shot of hand reaching and sneaking a marshmallow (that was my 19 month-old kid who ran in the kitchen when she caught me busy with something. LOL)
(Fills 3 ramekins)
100g of dark chocolate
100g of unsalted butter
2 eggs
1 large spoon of Nutella (or any choco hazelnut brand of your choice)
1/3 of caster sugar (icing sugar)
1/4 of self raising flour (with pinch of baking powder)
1 tsp for each lava cake
Ooops! I just took a shot of melted marshmallows in 1 ramekin but that was not the way you should use the 3 ceramic cups.
I also tried to use cupcake linen papers, but it turned out to be so sticky that almost the half of the cake left sticked on it. LOL
Just bare with the grainy part, it was evening already and I only used iPad. But, you would see the choco hazelnut lava in the soft center.
I put melted marshmallows on top with some coffee dust to add fancy texture when you eat them together. You may also want to alter it with whip cream to get a taste of different twist.
If you bake the mixture for few more minutes, it would result to moist cake as what I have learn from my source. Here, I poured some melted mallows and garnished it with coffee dust, again, to add some decoration and viola, you got a S’mores inspired cake! I had no resources for graham crackers that moment, but I’ll add them next time in the remake to achieve and call it a complete S’mores cake! :)
