...what if sweepers are bloodfiends, just in pure liquid form?
they're created from humans by a Mother, who commands them all and whose emotions they can sense through their connection
they see each other as family
they arguably have a similar hunger, which leads them to rampage through the streets slaughtering everything
they obey some rules (no entering residences) and seem to have a strong fear of breaking those rules (as seen in their announcer)
also, traditional vampires are unable to enter homes without permission
similarly, they only come out at night
their fuel is the same liquid that they're made of
since they bring outskirts children to their Mother, it's clear that they have some urge to propagate, whether it comes from her or it's inherent in all of them
their weapons have the same appearance as hardblood weapons (look at barber outis's scissors next to sweeper blades. they look almost exactly the same), implying that they have some control over the liquid that they're made of and can shape it into weapons
they also inflict bleed and heal by consuming dead bodies
and most compellingly,
don quixote recognizes their scent of blood as familiar to her in a way that causes her to immediately shut down any possibility of investigating it further, likely because of her recent strong emotions from the death of her family and the revelations from lcb checkup.
