Has he ever well and truly been enough? His mother had certainly made it apparent that he wasn’t—not to her, at least—and though Kharlei had done much in an attempt to mend the damage done to him, it wasn’t quite enough for him to happily admit that he was enough. 

“My mother never thought so,” he says, loosing a sigh. “It’s hard to accept that she might’ve been wrong about me after all the years she spent pounding it into my head that I wasn’t worth much.” 

A useless boy, she had called him more than once; a uncaring child, she had insisted upon.
