At some point this evening it will have been a week since my mixtape, The Art of Being, dropped. I’ve been shown huge love, and i’m grateful for that. The mixtape would have come out anyway, as art isn’t qualified by the response to it (trying to remember). Still, it feels good to have mine appreciated so highly thus far. I took a risk and it’s amazing that it seems to have paid off. TAOB has already had radio play, been featured on a blog and incessantly tweeted about for the last 7 days. It’s thrilling. Also, humbling. Is it odd that I have gone from revelling in the praise to wanting to hide behind God, from the attention?

Still, the last week has been a myriad of emotion. It sorta feels like months of planning, juggling university work and other projects, struggling with writer’s block, stressing, insecurity...have gone and passed. But at the same time, I feel like a part of me’s been given out that I can’t get back. I guess...this is what sharing self must truly feel like. And letting go. (?)

It’s a bit of an odd sensation. A ‘now what?’ sort of disbelief that now has me looking forward to the future. I did it. I never thought I would finish. And now I can achieve anything.

Thank YOU. For listening. For sharing. For giving me another reason to believe I should keep going on.

2: Ghanaian Producer & Rapper extraordinaire, DOTSE, also contributed heavily to this mixtape. Both him and the final producer I will announce, were instrumental (pun intended) in me translating my Ghanaian roots into the music you will hear. They both were incredible to work with!!
