I hope it's common knowledge how much the first Little Nightmares game was inspired by Spirited Away and other Ghibli movies. You can see it in the early concept art and through the game, specially if you watch the movie again, which I did, after what? Four years?
The thing is, I noticed the similarities the Susuwatari/Dust Bunnies had with the Nomes. Being little skittish creatures that work fueling a furnace for the Bath House/The Maw.
