Feather and Claw

Summary:  Lan WangJi considers the griffin as it watches him in turn. It has become common knowledge that Wei WuXian has some sort of affinity for them, but the nature of such a connection, and the extent of control he is able to exercise are points of pure speculation. Lan WangJi isn't sure this is one of Wei WuXian's creatures...or if he can even think of any griffins in such terms. Certainly, there must be some understanding between him and the...flocks? Prides? Otherwise, he would have long ago been torn to shreds and devoured. It is no secret that a cultivator's golden core is a favored morsel to a griffin.

Clarity

Summary:  “Alcohol is not allowed in the Cloud Recesses.”

“Why don't you tell me what is allowed, then?”

The exasperation in his tone dug claws into Lan WangJi's skin. The rules existed for a reason. The rules needed to be obeyed.

“Read the rules,” Lan WangJi ground out. The sound of his own voice, oddly strained, gave him pause. Anger. He was feeling anger.

It had been a long time.

My comments:  The capacity for speech had deserted him utterly. He could only stare as the youth waited a beat, then moved to drink the second jar.

It was the rules that clamored at him and broke through his paralysis. They were being ignored—no. Worse. They were being flaunted. This guest disciple was calling down misfortune upon himself. The very idea was inconceivable to Lan WangJi. In one fluid movement, he drew his sword and charged forward, certain not to be swayed by anything the youth had to say.

He was taken completely by surprise once more, however, and even faltered in his attack as the disciple cried out:

“What's wrong with your hands?”

Summary:

Lan WangJi had a twitter account because Wei WuXian had insisted that he make one. He wasn't good at it, and didn't even particularly like it. He followed a total of three people that he knew in real life: Wei WuXian, Lan XiChen, and Jiang YanLi (the latter mostly because Wei WuXian openly adored her, and she sometimes posted recipes and family photos which Lan WangJi hoarded greedily in the wishful section of his mind filled with Wei Ying and domesticity and Someday). There was a notification showing that he had a new direct message.

Hm.

It was from his brother.

It said: Congratulations, WangJi ^_^

Night Bus

Summary:  When he came to, the bus was on the freeway. The windows were dewed with drops of melted snow that shone with captured light. Outside, traffic was at a standstill. Dingy slush covered the roads, gradually accumulating as snow drifted down from the woolen sky, the flakes picked out in sharp contrast where they plunged into the light of streetlamps and headlights. Wei WuXian laughed softly to see it. When he turned away from the window, he saw that the beautiful man from earlier was still sitting next to him, watching him with an expression that might, optimistically, be called inquisitive.

“The snow,” Wei WuXian said, gesturing outside. “It looks like champagne bubbles, only going the wrong way.” He laughed again, and rubbed his head. “Have you ever felt drunk, but been pretty sure you weren’t drinking? Haha, no, never mind me. I’m just tired.” He rubbed a hand over his face, wanting desperately to sleep.

A Little Happiness

Summary:  It was a beautiful, sunny day. A crisp, cool breeze was blowing, offset by the warm rays of the sun. The grass was vibrantly green, sprinkled with tiny white flowers. The rabbits were out, hopping contentedly around their meadow, practically begging to be picked up and cuddled. All of it was made surreal by the fact that a six-year-old Lan WangJi sat in the middle of the clearing, silently petting a black rabbit that had made itself comfortable on his lap.

Wei WuXian sat nearer the edge of the meadow, legs crossed at the ankles, chin in hand, and his elbow resting on his knee. He stared at Lan WangJi, searching for happiness in him.

My comments:  In which Lan WangJi is de-aged to about 6 years old, and Wei WuXian is determined that he shall have a happy childhood.

The rabbits tolerated Wei WuXian, liked SiZhui well enough, but adored Lan WangJi. Apparently, they recognized him even in a smaller body, because as Wei WuXian and SiZhui brought them by the twos and threes to pile on top of him, few of the rabbits hopped far away. Soon enough, Lan WangJi was practically buried in them. Wei WuXian was giggling almost continuously. SiZhui was unsuccessfully trying to hide a smile, his eyes warm with nostalgia. Lan WangJi sat quietly, eyes wide with wonder, and hands busy gently petting every rabbit he could reach without disturbing them.

“A-Zhan! Look how much they love you! They never would have tolerated me like that! Ahh, I'm so jealous! I want them to love me, too!”

“Be still,” Lan WangJi said quietly. He turned his little face up, looking at Wei WuXian with an earnestness that went straight to his heart. Gently, Wei WuXian settled a rabbit on top of his head.
