Anthem
I’m sick and tired of people thinking that kneeling during our National Anthem is disrespecting our country. They are people with influence and fame trying to bring awareness about the injustice against African Americans being mistreated and killed by law enforcement officials. Just because you have never experienced this doesn’t mean you get to ignore the issue or act like it doesn’t happen or matter. Of course it matters and it does exist. I’m a white female married to an African American man. I’m worried for his safety and also for our children. We have experienced prejudice against us on a daily basis especially with living in the south even though neither of us were born here. It’s almost a daily occurrence. Of course it’s nothing compared to my husbands own experiences or ancestors. We need to stop turning a blind eye and acknowledge it does exist and we do care that it’s happening. Police officers aren’t even remotely properly trained to handle any situation in which they are placed on a daily basis. They don’t know how to handle situations with individuals with MENTAL HEALTH, DISABILITY, or AFRICAN AMERICANS and we are putting a gun in their hands. Wake up America how does this make sense? I’m sick and tired of people loosing their lives to these circumstances. Please continue to stand together and bring awareness like these NFL teams continue to do.
