Hi, this is the anon that was asking about if you were still doing the mental health month. Anyways, I was self harming. Nothing bad, or at least nothing that would leave scars, but I was worried I would do something more. Also, I was having thoughts of suicide, but I wasn't planning it out. With that said, any tips on dealing with it or distracting myself, when that happens.
Hello, anon. Thank you for trying to talk to me about this. It sucks that you feel the need for self harming but I get what you mean. Hiya comrade in arms.Ā My main method for self harm doesnāt leave scars either. But I digress. Your mention of suicide ideation concerns me BUT so long as you understand the gap between intention and action (which I hope is the case) then thatās enough for me. Please stay safe though!
Hmm, music is pretty distracting to me and itās the most convenient since you can play them anytime. That or listen to a recording, maybe audiobook. But just listening might be too passive and not enough sometimes. So I suggest a more active action that requires a bit more focus. Like in my case, I like to write things, could be how you feel or something else depending on which works better for you.Ā
Writing is kind of my substitute for talking/venting. Venting gets me out of the suicide ideation train more often than not but we canāt always vent to someone all the time. So write as if someone will read it or as if someoneās listening to you then read it in the future when you feel better and be all whom?
Then thereās a different approach for intrusive thoughts but letās save that for another day since weāre keeping this on topic.
