STEPPING STONES
When I stop and think about the last year that has somehow whizzed by, I realise how many of my dreams have been realised. A few of them are dot related!
Joining forces with Magdalena Mannion and Noemi Luz to create dotdotdot dance has been a real turning point in my flamenco journey. I recall saying something once about wanting to find a community within flamenco. Finding people with whom I have a shared vision has opened up a wealth of opportunities for exponential growth and learning! With the ideas, dedication and hard work of all three of us, we’ve collectively pushed beyond our own expectations and created and produced an award winning show now about to embark on it’s third tour.
In typical DIY flamenco style, dotdotdot is completely self funded. We have used our own money to make the creation and touring of No Frills possible. As proud hardworking women, it has taken (at least me) a while to stop and:
1) accept that with the help of others we could achieve so much more,
2) actually take the step and ask for it!

I feel this is an important step for us. It’s amazing to be a part of a project that is so worth while. I’ve realised that you ask for help when you believe in yourself, when you trust yourself enough to use that help as best as you can and when you respect the trust others show in you. I love that with dotdotdot maybe because there are three of us, there has been no time for doubt or fear. We’ve just kept looking forward and that has taken us so far already!
If there’s anything i’ve learnt in the past year it’s that there is strength in numbers, in sharing dreams and working together to achieve them. I always say it but I’ll say it again, I think that’s the most beautiful thing about flamenco, that it is at it’s best when it’s shared, when a group of people take part in it.
