I am a closeted bi and I just found out my friend might be bi, and I really want to help him, let him know his sexuality is valid, but since he doesn't know I'm bi and he didn't tell me, I don't know how to approach the subject but I really want to help, any advice?
This is a tricky one. If your friend hasn’t come out to you directly, you can try showing your support for his sexual orientation in a more covert way. It’s more difficult to show support for a specific person when that person isn’t out yet, so you might just start by showing support for bisexuality as a whole. For example, you could bring up a cool article you read about a bisexual celebrity and talk about how you admire that person for being out and proud. Examples of out bisexual celebs include: Lady Gaga, Anna Paquin, Alan Cumming, Drew Barrymore and Billie Joe Armstrong.Â
Hopefully, showing support for the orientation as a whole, rather than your friend specifically, will protect both you and him until you are ready to come out.
I hope this helps!
