Supplement 2: The continent Omnia
Depending on who you ask, you could receive multiple answers for which nation in Omnia is the best. Sabine is known for its fine jewel mines, which is traded between the other nations for other natural resources. Thanks to their rarity and agreed value between nations, Sabine’s whole economy thrives as a result. The miners are the backbone for the very foundation on which Sabine functions. Of course, that’s not to say other countries don’t have their own value as well.
Catol isn’t known for jewels, but they are known for the finest spices around. Who doesn’t enjoy some good spice in their meals? Like Sabine, this has allowed them to gain power in the continental economy. Frequent trades are made between Sabine and Catol.
Shenuo is home to a wide variety of medicines and herbal remedies. Lacking major populated areas like Sabine or Catol, Shenuo people prefer smaller villages. Farming is a common occupation for the average Shenuo citizen. Their medicines are top notch and are highly desirable by other nations and their people.
Deseus is a largely uninhabited nation, thanks to its large desert to the north which is near impossible to live in. However, that’s not to say that nobody lives there. Some even thrive in the harsh desert. Most choose to live towards the south for a more comfortable climate. The major export of Deseus is their large precious metal mines, including gold, silver, and platinum as their most valued exports.
Ensam is a much smaller nation and isolated from the rest by water. However, it is still considered a part of the Omnian continent. Very few people live here. The ones who do live near the coast as the island has very little in the way of natural resources.
The second largest island to the south of the major continent is currently uninhabited. No resources exist on this island and nobody has tried to claim this land yet.
The land in the center, between all the continents is considered neutral territory. No one can claim this land as their own as it could impede trading between nations and would cause economic collapse. Moreover, the mountains in the center are considered a holy land by the Sabinese and Catolans.
Unfortunately, there still exist those who purposefully raid and attack traders. Many look for valuables such as jewels or precious metals, but typically take anything useful.
Now that we’ve covered the resources, let’s talk about how they’re traded.
Trading was traditionally done by boat or through caravans. However, with the recent proliferation of train tracks, trains have largely overtaken caravans. Trains have become the preferred method of transporting goods and people as they’re the fastest and most reliable way at this time. Boats sink and caravans take too long.
The orange paths listed above are the major train systems and typical caravan routes. The purple paths are typical boat paths.
The people who live in Omnia are diverse. Each nation typically holds at least one species, although one species is generally the most common.
For example, the majority of those who live in Sabine are Creaden. Catol is the home of many Simenti, Shenuo for the Plantkin, Deseus for the Anthromus, and Ensam for the Ravenfolk.
All nations live somewhat peacefully. Tensions have been rising between the Simenti and the Creaden. This is due to recent raids on trains intended to arrive at Sabine. The crew are typically killed and the contents stolen. Sabine people have suspected a small group of Simenti live in the neutral territory and attack the trains when they pass by.
The local government of Catol denies any official involvement.
