This month it was my turn to choose the theme for the Fab40s style challenge. And for some strange reason, I chose superhero inspired outfits! I know, crazy right? What on earth was I thinking? Clearly my mind wasn’t on earth at the time – it must’ve been on Planet Krypton or something lol!
All month, I struggled to come up with a superhero inspired outfit to wear today. All I knew was that I wanted to wear this necklace (below) AND I wanted to do the superhero pose (above) LOL. Did you know that standing like a superhero is supposed to boost your confidence? Google it and read the findings. It’s really quite fascinating.
I inherited the necklace from hubby’s late stepmother. Isn’t it beautiful? I’ve always thought it had a bit of a Wonder Woman vibe to it, so it seemed like the obvious choice for our crazy theme. So my superhero inspired outfit started with this. Like Jennie (below), I thought about wearing a superhero tee but I couldn’t find one I really liked in the shops. Stradivarius has some at the moment but they’re super wide and I prefer a fitted tee.
Superhero inspired red dress
My 12-year-old neighbour offered to lend me her wonder woman tee-shirt lol. But in the end, I decided on this gorgeous asymmetric red dress which I bought from eBay a couple of months ago. I’d been wanting a red dress for so long but hadn’t found the one. Until this. I just adore it. I love the neckline and the asymmetric hem at the back. Actually, it was the hemline that reminded me of superheroes in the first place. I could totally imagine a sexy Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) wearing it, can’t you?
As for the boots, I ended up opting for my Massimo Dutti tan ones. I wouldn’t normally team such a summery dress with knee highs but I actually love the look, and I reckon it gives it more of a superhero inspired touch. The Primark tan belt pulled it all together and then, for fun, I added the blue scarf (also from Primark a few years ago – I have it in red too) which works beautifully for a superhero inspired cape LOL.
Hints of blue

#gallery-0-14 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 100%; } #gallery-0-14 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-14 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Speaking of blue, I wanted to add a little bit more of it to my outfit, so I went full-on blue eye make-up as well as touches of blue nail polish. I simply adore blue mascara. I think it makes everyone’s eyes pop. If you haven’t tried it, you really should. Here are a few pics to show you the effect it has…(please excuse the bad hair – it was very windy!)

Oh, the ring. I almost forgot to mention the ring. This was a gift from my fabulous mother-in-law last year. The moment she gave it to me, I couldn’t help but think of superheroes.
So, there you have it. My superhero inspired outfit that actually turned out pretty cool! It’s definitely something I can see myself wearing out to a party or a dinner. But on this occasion, the denim jacket was needed. That wind was super chilly! Luckily you can’t see the goosebumps on my skin 😉
But that’s enough about my outfit, let’s see how the other gals styled their very own superhero inspired looks…
Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge
As always, Shelbee pulled out all the stops for her outfit and has given us something super fun and sexy. Inspired by Zatanna Zatara from DC Comics circa 1964 whose super power is her magic. Shelbee says that she very often feels quite magical herself so this seemed like the perfect inspiration, and I, for one, LOVE IT! I just love how brave she is and this outfit just proves that. Shelbee, you seriously rock!

Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots
Jennie went for a fun casual look this month with a fabulous Superman tank top that she already had. If I’d have had a tee like this, I would have totally gone down the very same route. She looks super fab and super fun! Outfit Details: Superman Tank – Old Striped Top – Old Navy Jeans – Lee Shoes – Converse All Stars Glasses – c/o Firmoo Earrings – NY&Co. Bracelet – c/o Wind Passion
Daenel from Living Outside the Stacks
Daenel’s superhero is The Crimson Avenger, a character you may know from the late 1930’s. I absolutely love that she decided to imitate him in honor of her dad who was a big comic book fan. How totally awesome is that? Daenel looks absolutely incredible in that suit, right? LOVE it!!
Outfit Details: Suit and White Shirt: Target
Tie: Husband’s Closet
Shoes: Evine.com
Mary from Curly Birdie Chirps
Mary – COMING SOON!
Sheela from Sheela Writes
Unfortunately, our beautiful blogging BFF Sheela was unable to join us this month but hopefully she’ll be back in time for our next theme (whatever that might be) in May! But do go and visit her blog, she always posts the most glorious content!
And our fabulous guest this month, Andrea from Living on Cloud Nine
#gallery-0-16 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-16 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-16 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-16 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
I simply adore Andrea’s take on the superhero challenge. I mean, isn’t this THE most perfect caped jacket you’ve ever seen? It’s utterly gorgeous, just like Andrea herself, who always manages to look so beautifully put together. She’s one of my favourite blogging superheroes! Outfit Details: Cape Blazer: SheIn Leggings: Vera Wang Sock Booties: Steve Madden Earrings: Sugarfix by Baublebar
And there you have it. How the Fab40s styled ‘Superheroes’. Now it’s your turn? How would you style this super fun challenge?

Fab40s: Superhero inspired outfits This month it was my turn to choose the theme for the Fab40s style challenge. And for some strange reason, I chose superhero inspired outfits!
Super inspired- Clint and Bruce also all these items are supercheap
These two are harder. (But not as hard as falcon I haven't found anything for sam which makes me sad.) They both have purple in their outfits and are not nearly as eyecatching. Anyway it should be fairly evident what's for who.

There's more out there but I'm bored so maybe I'll put it up maybe not. Casual cosplay for these two is hard but I have seen some good pieces. Things to resemble Clint's bracer's, DNA necklaces, pouches that look like quivers, arrows, and what have you. Make a cool shirt with 'radioactive' splashed across it, another with caw caw mother*er or just caw caw and an arrow or just a bow and arrow- also seriously i have no idea where that phrase came from (Is it roughly based in cannon? I can't image the swear having passed into media but the other part maybe? Not sure) but i hear it so often with clint i just go with it. Things like that. Oh and combat boots for Clint. I like some of the more casual stuff with combat boots, practical but also a bit punk which looks cool. If not that than ankle boots.
Simply Super inspiration- the avengers and peggy
more superhero inspired clothing!

http://www.collegefashion.net/inspiration/geek-chic-fashion-inspired-by-marvels-the-avengers/ the link takes you to the article which also lists where the items were gotten from. I couldn't find the necklace that went with tony's outfit because I really liked that. But the website linked from the original page listed http://www.maxandchloe.com/Images/Product/K_Amato/2012/K_Amato_Feb212012_0027L.jpg (price: 88) and http://www.maxandchloe.com/melinda-maria-fenton-necklace (price: 198). I really like this one a lot. Not the price tag so much though but I make jewelry so I might make some similarly inspired.
