Lecture 19: A “supergroup” is a band that combines members of other famous bands. In this case, members of The Byrds (David Crosby), The Hollies (Graham Nash), and Buffalo Springfield (Stephen Stills and, sometimes, Neil Young) got together to form Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN), and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY). Here, the supergroup plays their super-hit, “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” off of their self-titled debut album. This performance at Woodstock in August of 1969 epitomizes the sound of folk rock that was gaining traction among musicians and fans at the time.
