What story are you working on for the book?
Super Ann with the amazing Einar Másson!
What public domain characters are you using and what's the best thing about them?
Super Ann and Big Shot. My favorite thing about the villain Big Shot is his alter ego’s high public office. I see it as a metaphor for corruption in politics that is just as relevant now as it was when he was created. I like that Super Ann gets superpowers from an alien refugee who chooses to give her great power. she's not born with it, and it's not an accident, it's because the alien sees something special in her.
What was the first comic you remember reading that really hooked you into them?Â
As a kid, I used to love reading and collecting the Sunday funnies, then I got really into X-Men: Age of Apocalypse, which is what got me into the world of comic books and superheroes.
What attracted you to the Not Forgotten project?
I like the archetypes that were such a big part of the Golden Age of comics. Getting to use those characters, you can play with traditional narratives while also injecting your own themes and ideas into it. I wanted to do something that’s classic, but also current and a little subversive.
