Steve sat at the table heâd reserved for his date, staring silently at the familiar face in the doorway. She wore the color Natasha had told him sheâd be wearing, just as he was wearing the dark green shirt sheâd told him to wear. So you can recognize each other when you get there, sheâd said. When heâd agreed to a blind date, Steve had thought it would be someone he didnât know- or, if anything, someone from some obscure office who he might have heard of but, again... didnât know.Â
Not her.
What if she wasnât interested in him like that? What if she realized they were supposed to be one anotherâs dates and laughed or something?
This was the last time he let Natasha try to hook him up with someone. She was always trying to figure out who he should date. As if he absolutely needed someone in his life. Heâd been just fine as he was... though he couldnât deny having a partner was something heâd like. It just- wasnât easy for him to connect with people, which made tonightâs adventure all the more nerve-wracking. Now it was even worse because apparently, Natasha had picked one of their own teammates for him to date. Thought she was real sly about it, too. Heâd get her back for this.
Taking a deep breath, he stood and made his way over to where Wanda waited. âHey,â he greeted softly, reaching out to touch her arm. âYou look beautiful, Wanda. You lookinâ for somebody?âÂ
