||| @sunsupe ; a starter for you!
A kind gesture always paid off, or so he’d been told. Had he expected Miss January to take him up on the offer given when he’d handed her his card? Not exactly, but everyday brought on a new surprise it seemed. When she’d entered the building, Clark knew. The weight of her walk was a pattern he could recognize, but the journalist kept to his desk until Jenny had personally escorted her over.Â
âť› Kent, this one’s for you. A miss, uh, January.âťśÂ
He’d shot up from his small swivel chair in an instant; fingers adjusting his glasses first before offering her his hand. Naturally he’d placed a smile on his face, even if the surprise was still quite evident. This was good, and not for the paper’s sake. It was no surprise after meeting her that he’d been sticking his nose into Vought’s business, and what he smelled — he simply didn’t like. This was the first step to change; change that didn’t directly involve another unknown super from flying in and turning things over ( not that he was above that  ).Â
âť› — ma’am, it’s a pleasure, âťś the awkward first encounter facade remained until Jenny stepped away. Then Clark nudged toward his seat, offering it to her. âť› I gotta say, I’m relieved to see ya. I just expected a phone call, I guess. But this…works just fine. Can I get you a coffee or something? ❜Â
