iāve been working on my fic i promise šš hereās a preview of the chapter since i have nothing else to offer
It was still winter but Basil had invited Kel over to his house to hang out. He had said they were going to āpreen the plantsā whatever that meant. There werenāt many thoughts going through his mind as he skipped on the sidewalk on his way to Basilās house. He tried to keep those at a minimum. He hadnāt had a chance to properly talk to the blond boy alone after their brief exchange at the Christmas party, always getting interrupted by something or someone and frankly Kel was worried. Basilās outburst at the music shop hadnāt helped his growing paranoia. It was weird⦠Basil was nervous, sure and wasnāt immune to meltdowns considering his mental state but this was different. How he acted reminded Kel of after Mariās accident.
He didnāt know 11 year old Basil could look like that.
Besides that whole incident Basilās house was a place where some⦠unpleasant things had happened to say the least. Heād probably have to go into Basilās room or talk to his grandmother.
Polly wasnāt even there yet⦠Oh, Polly. If she was there things mightāve been a whole lot easier. They had gotten along in the brief time Kel had known her. She was the only presence that didnāt bring unpleasant memories in that house⦠as hard as that was to admit. Basilās grandma was sweet but he could barely remember her at this point. She had died that day⦠Basil went over the edge and stabbedā. No. Nope. He didnāt need to be thinking about that now. That would just make his trip to Basilās place harder for all the parties involved.
Kel picked up his pace and made it to the entrance of the house. The outside was decorated with various types or greenery that could resist the harsh weather. If this wasnāt a suburban neighborhood Kel wouldāve mistaken the place for a small winter cottage in the mountains. He could smell food wafting from the slightly open window and Basilās raspy voice talking with who Kel assumed was his grandma. What a nice and lively place to live...
Kel swung back and forth, digging his hands into his jacket pockets. He idly hummed the tune of an orange joe comercial that no one would know about for a few years. He sighed, finally reaching out to knock on the door. He hesitated for a moment before biting the inside of his cheek and going for it. He waited, hearing more chatter before loud steps quickly approached the door.
āKel,ā Basil smiled, opening the door all the way. He seemed genuine, if not a little shy. āHey, Basil!ā Kel smiled back, holding his hand up in greeting. āCome in! My grandma made us something to eat before we checked on the plants.ā Basil was giddy. His eyes were soft and eager, nothing like the Christmas party. Kel relaxed his shoulders. That was good. He was glad Basil was acting more relaxed. Not even a minute after though, he tenses up again.
Oh god, he has to go inside.
