В пятницу, 5 мая, в Sunset Lounge Riga на Андрейсале лейбл Amber Muse примет вечеринку нового клубного арт-пространства из Санкт-Петербурга – DOT. В прошлом году там выступили рижане Taran & Lomov, и теперь с ответным визитом, в рамках культурного обмена, в Латвию приедут основатели этого клуба и лейбла Tekstil Music — Денис Шубин и Munt Berry. Открывающий сет готовит Elvi Soulsystems (House Purgatorio).
Для рижан, которые клубились в 2000-х, арт-пространство DOT в Санкт-Петербурге может напомнить клуб Space:Garage, который, как и DOT, находился в старом промышленном здании. В Питере на верхний этаж зимнего пространства и крышу летнего ведет узкая лестница, между пролетами которой посетителей встречают постапокалиптические арт-инсталляции, настраивающие на особый лад.
На 2 тыс. кв. м. крыши здания бывшей кожевенной фабрики постройки позапрошлого века основатели проекта Tekstil Music проводят в жизнь концепцию арт-пространства: помимо выступлений диджеев, живых и электронных групп, размещают выставки, устраивают показы моды и мастер-классы, маркеты и прочие интересные культурные коллаборации.
DOT с момента открытия летом прошлого года сразу завоевало свое место на карте клубной страны: там выступила масса знаменитых электронных артистов, среди которых Timo Maas, Tripmastaz, Junktion, DJ Spider, Eduardo Do La Calle, Mike Dehnert и др.
Его открыли Денис Шубин и дуэт Munt Berry (Петр Ульянов, Артур Катаев) из Tekstil Music, которые работают с 2010 года: организуют мероприятия в Санкт-Петербурге, Москве, на Казантипе, в разных городах России, и имеют большой диджейский опыт в техно и хаусе. Два года назад они начали выпускать видеоподкаст Tekstil Music, благодаря которому приняли в команду много новых творческих людей. В Ригу на вечеринку лейбла Amber Muse (на котором, кстати, Денис Шубин год назад выпустил сингл под именем Shmix), они привезут настроение и энергию DOT.

I just found the perfect spot in the city to chill out and relax while enjoying the cool afternoon bayside breeze and being enveloped in the beautiful and pictureque Manila Bay sunset. Along with a wide selection of wines, cocktails and beverages and an assortment of sumptuous pica-pica items, this place is a hidden paradise where I would gladly spend my lazy afternoons all the way into the early evening.
The Sunset Lounge of Pan Pacific Manila in Malate is a secret urban paradise tucked away on the hotel's 7th floor. Recently opened in November last year, the Sunset Lounge gives its hotel guests as well as walk-in customers a cool and relaxing location to unwind and while away the afternoon to escape the busy and hectic pace of the city. Here, you can enjoy the stunning sunset of Manila Bay while you sit back and put your feet up while sipping a glass of wine.
The Sunset Lounge can accommodate up to 60 guests and this also serves as a great venue for small gatherings or intimate parties. It is open from 5:30 pm in the afternoon up to 9:00 pm in the evening.
Formerly just a sundeck area beside the hotel pool, the Sunset Lounge has kept a few of the previous pool chairs so you can still enjoy lying down under the sun with your cold cocktails if that is what your prefer. No need to wear anything formal in this area as it has a relaxed casual atmosphere.
The hotel pool and the fitness center are just beside the Sunset Lounge and you can actually use these facilities for yourself even if you are not staying at the hotel for just a fee of P250 per person. That seems like a great offer and I would gladly take advantage of that if I happen to live or work nearby in the Malate or Manila areas.
But the main attraction of the Sunset Lounge is definitely its great view of the Manila Bay. The wide spaces and peaceful serenity makes it feel like you are in a different place altogether and not in the crowded Malate area.
The bar area serves several signature cocktails and mocktails, red and white wines, local and imported beers, as well as sodas and iced tea.
Two Oceans White Wine (P328 per glass)
The centerpiece of the Sunset Lounge is this grand fountain which gives it a classy and sophisticated touch.
My friends and I were treated to an entire afternoon of bubbly beverages and some of the recommended items on their menu.
The Reuben Quesadillas (P350) are lightly toasted tortillas with green lettuce, sour cream and melted cheese. These make for great appetizers. Each order from their menu is good enough for one to two persons.
If you want something with a spicy kick then get the Pacific Chicken Nachos (P380) which are tortilla chips with sliced chicken, jalapeno, salsa, cheese and condiments.
The classic Crispy Spring Rolls (P350) is an item that everyone will like. These are sauteed garden vegetables wrapped in rice paper and fried to ultimate crispiness. It comes with a sweet and sour dip.
For something heavier and tastier, try the Baby Back Pianizza (P480) which is topped with smoked baby back ribs, edam cheese, mozzarella, and corn kernels. I love its tangy barbeque sauce and the juicy baby back ribs.
My favorite for that afternoon was the Buffalo Wings and Chicken Drumlets (P350). The breaded chicken drumlets were so crunchy and flavorful while the wings were also quite good especially with its blue cheese dip.
Lastly, we also made our own Pork Sisig Tacos (P350) with pork mask, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and cheese. This is a great innovation to the regular tacos and it definitely packs a bigger punch.
Come evening, the Sunset Lounge transforms into an even cooler place with its colorful lights and chillax music and ambience.
I would like to thank Mr. Ernie Bigay, Assistant Manager for Marketing Communications of Pan Pacific Manila, for inviting us to experience this wonderful new hotspot in the city. It was a cozy afternoon that turned into a lovely evening filled with laughter and heartfelt conversations with friends, greatly helped by the cold beverages, enticing dishes, and charming location offered by the Sunset Lounge.

(Atlanta, GA) The special Cinco De Mayo, May edition of the Sunset Lounge series and MALIBU RED produced undoubtedly the hottest ATL event of Spring 2013. Known as Atlanta's favorite day party, the SSL hosted over 1500 guests at Cantina located in the heart of Buckhead Atlanta. Special guests for the event included international hip hop artist Flo Rida and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter/producer Raphael Saadiq. Guests indulged on authentic Mexican cuisine coupled with specialty MALIBU RED cocktails (a mixture of Caribbean Rum and Mexican Tequila) while dancing from mid-day until evening.
Flo Rida took to the stage for an impromptu performance bringing everyone to the dance floor and getting the ladies ready for a sensual serenade by R&B bad boy Pleasure P and hot new artist Adrian Marcel (signed to Raphael Saadiq). Additional notable guests included; NFL Player Takeo Spikes, hip hop artist Gorilla Zoe, pop culture personality Tami Reed (Oxygen/Find Me a Man), music producer Isaac Hayes III, BMI executive Byron Wright, and many more. DJ E-Clazz, Stephan the DJ and DJ Know It All played crowded-moving sets from the 90s to today, creating a consistent mix of beautiful people on the dance floor all day long.
"Sunset de Mayo" was a complete cultural celebration featuring the artwork of one of the Atlanta entertainment industry’s most recognizable personalities; Freddyo (www.freddyo.com).
Several of Freddyo's paintings celebrating female images in African American and Hispanic culture along with pieces celebrating Atlanta were displayed at the venue. Freddyo achieved notoriety as a photojournalist on the Atlanta entertainment scene before returning to one of his first passions, art. "It was an honor for my work to be featured," says Freddyo. "The Sunset Lounge is one of those events that everyone can come out and enjoy. It makes sense that celebrities come out because it’s a place they can celebrate with fans without being mobbed and even promote their work. It’s a different energy than a club and that's refreshing."
The Sunset Lounge has proven to be Atlanta's favorite Day Party partnering an unmatched ambiance at the hottest venues in Atlanta, with beautiful guests, celebrities, tastemakers and key influencers against the backdrop lit with the brilliance of a sunny day. The Sunset Lounge Collective is comprised of ATLbarz, FCC and Moetown Lee.
