PROLOGUE - hunting men like they’re wild deers

It’s 8am when Y/n’s Ring doorbell senses a person outside. It’s a delivery person, except Y/n’s sure she isn’t expecting a parcel today. The delivery person signs their checklist and nods to Y/n before returning to their van, having left a relatively small package on her doorstep.
Y/n picks up the package and checks the address, which, strangely, is her own. It also has the right name, which is even weirder. She definitely doesn’t remember ordering something like this, and unless her Amazon account has been hacked, there’s no way she ordered it.
She takes out a kitchen knife and slices through the packaging, finding a book inside. It’s titled "Boyfriend Hunting 101: Everything You Need To Know To Get Yourself A Boyfriend.” which is very strange and definitely a red flag, but piques Y/n’s curiosity. She opens the book to the introduction (there’s no blurb on the back, just several book reviews) which reads:
So, you've chosen to buy this book (thank you, this greatly helps my finances) which means you're interested in getting a boyfriend. I'm here to guide you through the process, which involves some simple and easy steps that will help you become a Master Romancer, and get that guy you like! Have fun, and happy romancing!
Y/n is further intrigued by the introduction, so flips to the contents. Each chapter seems to be a separate step to “becoming a Master Romancer”, with 69 in total (Y/n isn’t sure if that’s intentional or not). She briefly skims some of them, like “get to know him” and “seek him out during group activities”, and decides that this could be a fun project to undertake, in the way that it’s certain to publicly embarrass her in every possible method, because she loves being embarrassed.
She turns the page to the next one after Contents, which tells her to choose a target to hunt like she’s hunting a deer. The threat of animal harm is slightly worrying to Y/n, but she decides on the person she instantly thought of on seeing the word “boyfriend”: Park Sunghoon, her English literature partner and her crush of two years.
If there was anyone to “master romance”, it would be Sunghoon, because he was truly the most wonderful and best person she knew (although she might be slightly biased) and the sole reason for her English Lit grade being a pass mark. You’d think a UK transfer student would be good at English Literature, but alas.
Y/n takes out a pen and writes down Sunghoon’s name in the gap left to write the name of the “target” (so that she could shoot him down with her arrow of love, of course, even though she didn’t really want to hurt him).
She decides to follow the steps from tomorrow (one step a day, of course) so that, in two months, she would have finished the book, and hopefully, gotten herself a boyfriend, through the questionable method of hunting men like they’re wild deers.
