Hello! Absolutely it would!

We want to analyze the album and its impact, which is why it can be helpful to bring in other art objects/intertexts. The Black Parade is so rich—identifying common themes across different works can be a great way of isolating what you consider to be most interesting about the album, and what you want to focus on in your analysis.

Since it can be difficult to make concrete claims about artistic intention, we wouldn't want the bulk of the work to be on "proving" an influence. If you think a work is related/in conversation, then that's already more than enough! What we're interested in is pushing that inkling of a feeling further, see if it reveals to us something new about the album & the work that it's doing.

Alternatively, if you're interested in examining the era as opposed to the album itself: something that came out after TBP but is still in the general timeframe would absolutely still be part of the conversation!
