This is the perfect time to read books with a bit of decay!

This weekend my boyfriend and I went to Wildwood, NJ.

I used to go to Wildwood every summer with my family as a child, and have not been there in 4 years. In my opinion, it’s one of the nicer shores in Jersey. It’s basically a big beachtown full of restaurants, a boardwalk, amusement parks, waterparks, bars, etc. I actually forgot how clean/big the beach is!

I am currently on Chapter 4 of “You Are A Badass” and so far it’s pretty good. I am not too fond of how it’s written, but I think as far as motivational straight-to-the-point books are concerned, this one is decent. So far, I like the analogies the author uses and the inspirational quotes she starts each chapter with. It’s an easy read and good for laying by the pool/beach.

On Sunday morning I went for a run only to find that my iPod was dead. If any of you guys are also on the east coast right now, you know how incredibly hot it’s been. Mixing a music-less run + hot weather is not my favorite combo. Because I don’t get to run down the shore often, I still ran 3 miles without music. When I got back to our place we were staying at, I decided to set my watch for 10 minutes and went up and down the 2 flights of outdoor stairs until I hit the entire 10 minutes. I would mix in skipping every other step intervals as well. This was super challenging and I was dying 4 minutes in. It felt so good when I was done. After that, I did a little stretching/yoga (as pictured: treepose with subpar form).

Size: XL | Fabric: 50% Cotton, 50% Polyester | Made by / in: Hanes / El Salvador Had Since: 6/30/2012 | Price: FREE! | Times Worn: 0 It's that time of year again - summer's coming to an end, school hasn't started yet, so it must be Vacation Bible School season.  Or rather, it Was VBS season, as it happened at our church last week!  When the preparations were being made for this year's program, Operation Overboard!, I was still working, which meant that I wouldn't be available to participate like I have in the past few years.  I've had the pleasure of doing a bit of "acting" the last couple times, but this year those roles went to some other friendly folks (like Rudy and Dad!), and I was okay with having the time off.  Plus I was sick for the first three days of the program this year, so I wouldn't have been much help had I volunteered.  Additionally, the praise band usually plays for the closing celebration, but this year it was decided that pre-recorded music would be used, so I didn't participate in that way, either. In short, I did Nothing to help the VBS effort this year, but I still got the shirt!  Hooray! Leah made a special request for me, and I suppose this little blog of mine had something to do with the good folks at the church deciding to send this my way.  They've been excellent to me and our family, and I'm so thankful that Willow Hill has been a part of my life - Hopefully next year I can take an active part in VBS again!  The decorations in the sanctuary were magnificent, to the point that some may have thought they went a bit...overboard...with them!  Check 'em out!

I work on Saturdays now, which is a major bummer, not of least of all because I miss out on eating breakfast out with my family.  Thankfully they still get out there and enjoy eggs, bacon, hash browns, and all the other things that make breakfast a brilliant meal.  Even better, though, is that I still get to enjoy the meal with them on Sunday, when tradition and my personal tastes dictate that we stop at McDonald's on our way to church.  I would eat McDonald's breakfast all day, every day, if they would come to their senses and offer it all day, every day.  Hash browns and Sausage McMuffins with Egg?  You can't beat that. I picked this shirt up because McDonald's has been a huge part of my life, and I liked the smiley face logo on the bright red fabric.  And the teaser text up there is no joke - I dig clothing that smiles for me, because I don't do it often enough.  I found this one at a Goodwill, and bought it in spite of the print on the back, which I know nothing about:
