THROWING MUSES-DARK BLUE
..:: #97. Throwing Muses - Dark Blue ::..
I've been told by a friend that I missed out by not being hip to Throwing Muses while living through the '90s, and after hearing Sun Racket I'm inclined to believe that they're right! The album kicks off with "Dark Blue," a song that has a satisfactory grunge feel akin to something Pixies or The Breeders might have cooked up during everyone's favorite alt-rock decade. Kristin Hersh commands the fray with some dismal lyrics that match the plodding and shaggy bundle of guitars and the end result is deliciously dreary.
Best Moment: Both times Kristin trades "coming down, coming down" responses with the band, at 1:38 and 2:46.
