So, is Sun!Lance amab or afab?
Sun Lance is amab and is presently cisgendered! Most of the Sun parallel universe cast have been cursed by ancient artifacts. Many of them had bodily changes as a result, which is why Lance is significantly more androgenous than all of his same counterparts.
(I am open to making him explore some gender spectrum someday, though 👀 I would rather play that out)
Roughly how old is Lance in your verses? And how would he (any verse) behave towards an old rival?
There is a surprising amount of triangulation required to be exact, and it would be possible for me to pick but it would also limit other developments in certain verses more than others. So I'll say we're roughly 20 years from the inciting incident which split all of the verses- which happened 5 weeks before his 18th birthday. So we'll say on the blog he is roughly 40 years old.
Moon Lance: I'd want to challenge them right away, of course!
Moon Lance is the strongest battler with his dragons, so naturally he's quite excited to reunite with any rival. Being married to two Champions, even after all of them find their retirement niche, battling is just a way of life. It's both healing and a bond to share. Besides, even retired as Champions, they still participate in many global battle events such as the World Tournament. Lance and Leon still have a pretty strong rivalry separate of everyone else too.
Sun Lance: I'm not really a 'catching up on old times' type...
Sun Lance wouldn't take a challenge lying down, but he did become a Pokemon Professor after retiring, and before he became cursed, so he doesn't go out of his way to seek the strongest. Most of his Pokemon battles now he prefers as 1v1 since it's always been his Buddy Dragonite who drove him to battle with everything he's got. While a little more recluse socially, as in he wouldn't initiate, Sun Lance probably is the best option if you wanted to go have a night coffee with and talk about where things have gone after retirement.
UM Lance: It depends on our past together.
UltraMoon Lance carries a bit of a grudge against anyone who turned on him after Interpol burned his identity and made a media campaign calling for his demise. While he sort of forgives those who showed remorse after feeling anxious or duped by the sheer size of the scandal, he absolutely keeps a constant list in his mind about trustworthiness. Were this rival to have been someone who questioned his character or perpetuated the dialog, Lance would avoid having anything to do with them. Otherwise, Lance remains very competitive especially as his freedom hinged upon his battle prowess for so long. He's very much a Dad friend, if he's your friend.
US Lance: There's nothing better than reuniting with a rival! I mean, besides Moon Lance and Akinori and anyone from the police and Team Rocket and... you know, I might as well throw in Shin'ya, and-
Moon Lance: Am I really still in your list of 'enemies?'
US Lance: Are you really still a cop?
UltraSun Lance has the most enemies, regardless of his beef with Moon Lance, on account of being a renown gang member and internationally hunted criminal. So he sees his rivalries in a much friendlier manner- they're people that acknowledge him and won't care about his record outside of their contest. He's actually a bit less competitive about Pokemon battling than he is about throwing down in general, and it shows as he never became a Champion. But hey, his path to become a yokozuna was tremendously difficult, so most of his fiercest rivals are fellow rishiki (sumo wrestlers). Incidentally, he's also the best at small talk and would genuinely be available even if the rival hasn't been there for him. Even rivals are welcome to their community and protection!
