alright. it's sumo times again, lads. I might not remember to write down thoughts every night but if there's some good fights (or infuriating decisions, like last time) I will.
sad news: ichinojo retired. understandable really, but it's always sad when a wrestler has to step down. (this is rumoured to be terunofuji's last basho and that will be really sad because then there won't be a yokozuna, but we'll see how it goes)
bad news: wakatakakage is out for surgery for his acl tear. not actually recent news, but still. I like him so I hope he's back soon. takayasu hurt himself morning of day one (sucker) and pulled out for at least today. him, I am not so sad about.

ohooooo! good fight to start off. I actually thought he lost until the replay since I couldn't see kagayaki's hand initially.
aoiyama vs kotoeko was a good fight. aoiyama deserved the win but kotoeko sure gave him a run for it.
fucking lol at ryuden. I'm not a fan of his so it was fun to see takarafuji shove him out.
meiseiiiii!! honestly living for mitakeumi to be taken down as low as he is right now. even better that meisei spun him around and pushed him out.
ura! my child! he's so cute, I want to pinch his cheeks. beautiful fight, deserved win (sorry nishikigi!) and he looked so happy when he won! adorable.
tobizaru might have lost, but it was such a good fight and he looked so pleased to have fought it! kotonowaka deserved the win but good showing from them both really.

daieisho vs nishikifuji was fun. nishikifuji ended on a nice flamingo stance on the ropes while daieisho just watched to see if he fell in or out. hilarious.
very good boy hoshoryu got the free pass from takayasu pulling out so he didn't have to fight. a blessing and a curse.
kiribayama using midorifuji's signature move against him? amazing. I like them both equally, so.
abi on the other hand got totally robbed by takakeisho. (yeah, okay, fair fight and all but abi is just a better person and I am absolutely biased.)
terunofuji is back and ready to rumble! get dunked on, shodai! (commentator kept making it out to be a much closer fight than it was but terunofuji is a smart, smart man. he knew exactly how that was going to play out.)
tomorrow has a lot of my favs going head-to-head, which is unfortunate, but as long as those fights are all out of the way in the first half... I can enjoy the second week more.
fuuuuuck my wrist has been hurting for like three weeks, I hope I don't have some gay ass TFCC or ECU injury right before my competion that would fuckin piss me off. god this is like exactly what I was afraid of happening at the exact time I was afraid it would happen, the next like three weeks are so crucial and if my GAY LITTLE WRISTS would just STOP COMPLAINING AND DO THE DAMN PUSH-UP. ugh

Arashifuji comes in and almost destroys everyone, Toshinofuji strong as hell as well (Across all divisions they're insanely strong)
Enho got his winning record! Thankfully! I was worried at some points but we need him in salaried long enough so that he can secure that elder status and stop injuring himself. Also his flexibility never ceases to amaze me!
That one arm crank Tochitaikai did on Enho really pissed me off, you're tryna injure someone for no reason and still lose.. tsk tsk tsk
As much as Midorifuji is one of my favourites.. dude you have heart failure now maybe don't go as hard?? Congrats on the winning record but man, save your health
Sad about some of the veterans clearly starting to struggle, hopefully they can hang on a bit longer.
Asasuiryu is so fun to watch can't wait to see both brothers competing in Makuuchi in the next tournament!!!
And nice to see a Shonnanoumi win! I started watching sumo the tournament before he fell to juryo yet in my mind he always remained as top division material so I'm happy to see a comeback coming!

i'm so fucking sore after practice omfg. new distinct parts of my body i didn't know could be sore. i'm just now starting a regimen to get me into shape for the competition in february but it's fucking brutal man. I feel like i'm getting better and stronger but I think everyone else in my class is maybe progressing faster than I am or have more experience so it's hard to feel that way even if I'm being told I'm improving and doing well. I know I shouldn't pay too much attention to my w/l in practice but like....I wanna win lmao.........
