If only Ulquiorra knew that there were a lot of things and instances in her life that Orihime felt disappointed, he wouldnât tell her those words. Despite her unchanging positive disposition, she couldnât count how many times she felt disappointed about things that have happened--especially to herself. Not many knew that all she wanted was for her to become equal to everyone, especially Ichigo. She felt disappointed to herself that her power at that time was not strong enough to inflict damage. Being a captive and agreeing to it was one of the biggest disappointment she has about herself.Â
Orihime knew that what she did will cause a major stir, but it was just brought about by her disappointment to herself. She thought that she was doing the right thing because for once, she wanted to be the one to do the saving. Always being saved by her friends was something nice, but it also became a disappointment to her since she felt like baggage to them. So she tried her best to became better, not because of anyone else, but she chose to do so. She has gotten so used to disappointment that she grew tired of it.
Looking up at Ulquiorra, Orihime gave him a soft smile. She breathed and looked away from him. âI donât think you ever get used to disappointment, Ulquiorra. It just happens so many times that you just get tired of it at some point. You told me, Iâve grown. And yes, I did. And I donât get disappointed anymore, I owned it and turned it to something else, unconditional love and selflessness. The more you think of yourself, or what you needed, I think the more you get disappointed in things that never mattered in the first place.â After she spoke, Orihime glanced at Ulquiorra and touched his chest briefly.Â
âDid I ever disappoint you, Ulquiorra?â and as the question left her lips, there was a little feeling of pain in her chest.
