teddy lupin is a household name to most of wizarding britain thanks to his parents and the family conglomerate that he tends to associate himself with the most, but he likes to think he did what he could to make a pretty decent impression on the world on his own merit as well. 

his relationship with his parents was fabricated based on the memories and opinions of them given to him from other people. he’s always had a weird association with them, their legacy, and where he fits into the whole thing. to this day, he still skirts around any serious conversation about them.

though, in his defense, this is often how he is with almost any personal detail. teddy loves to burden himself with the problems of other people and it makes him a great person to vent to, but has a hard time doing the same for himself. there are ultimately two versions of edward lupin that people close to him begin to see: the scrappy, reckless and extroverted teddy that most people know him as, and a more introspective version of that whom comes out only around a select few. 

which is not to say that either of these personas are necessarily more or less the “true” teddy -- they both are equally. but teddy grew up learning how to read people and making the conscious decision to adapt to whatever it was that he saw in order to make everyone else more comfortable with him. it’s second nature to tailor aspects of his personality to specifically the person he is around, whether he feels like he needs to or not.

which ultimately ties into the Big Identity Struggle that teddy has been dealing with his entire life. being a metamorphmagus is perhaps the coolest talent that teddy has, but for a while it also ended up becoming a major source of anxiety for him because he could never quite figure out what was the “””real””” him and what was manufactured by his subconscious -- and if the latter should even be considered as something different than truly him. it’s a big philosophical debate that he’s mostly gotten over, but occasionally will still manifest if he gets drunk in the afternoon. 

aside from his fame based on other famous associations, most people will probably have been introduced to teddy during the Infamous Hogwarts Days™. he was a hufflepuff, and very very very proud of it (will still attempt to fight anyone talking shit about hufflepuffs).  he was that guy that somehow managed to be friends with everyone, including professors, which became helpful when he had to get out of trouble for the many shenanigans he was at the center of. he was (and still is) an avid supporter of creature rights, loud and obnoxious, and spent at least 80% of the time attached to victoire weasley (at the hip or by the mouth).

the rest of the time he actually was a pretty devout student, which surprised most people. he did great in school, wanted to grow up to work either with dragons or be a curse breaker, and had all the owl and newt scores to back up either option. 

but instead of pursuing a stable career after hogwarts, teddy opted to soul search. he dropped everything and disappeared for a few years to travel around the world without telling anyone until after the fact. 

when he came back he was a little more withdrawn from the wizarding community. he began living primarily in muggle london at this point, and began working odd jobs back and forth between the magical and muggle worlds while continuing to take off to travel intermittently.

he’s been slowing that down a bit more lately, trying to focus more on actually figuring his shit out for real as he’s actually approaching Official Adulthood. he recently moved back to wizarding london, and started bartending at a wizarding bar that also caters to muggles while he tries to decide what he actually wants to do with the rest of his life. 

tl;dr: 

if you were looking for an example of only child syndrome in scorpius malfoy, you would be…..not extremely far off. while not particularly boastful, demanding, or selfish, scorpius was in fact an only child. not only was he an only child, he wasn’t well-socialized when he was younger. not because his parents were in ~hiding~ from the rest of the world because of the ~shAMe uPON the mALFOY family nAME~ but because his family spent a lot of time travelling in his youth. draco never ended up getting a job because when you have a fortune to burn, why would you?

nothing particularly sad about his life other than that he didn’t have a lot of friends growing up because of his parents’ lifestyles. it was only a matter of time before he got his acceptance letter.

scorpius got sorted into slytherin. bIG SURPRISE. the hat considered ravenclaw for a brief moment but was like, “nah.” i’m going to be real, scorpius was awkward at first but that’s not because of his lack of a social upbringing but because he’s naturally reserved, both like his mother and father. 

however, once he was at hogwarts, he had to learn to adjust. lol kids are dicks so he might not have had a lot of friends in the beginning (still probably doesn’t…because honestly, he’s not about that life). however not all kids were dicks and scorpius managed to make a few friends, a few that he probably has kept to this day and are probably the only people he trusts outside of his family (insert albus and a few other here).

while studious to a fault, he participated in several school activities. primarily quidditch, which he was actually good at. daddy didn’t buy his spot on the team and he’s proud of that fact. he’s proud of his accomplishments, whether academic or not. while he’s confident in what he does well, he’s not particularly arrogant. he’s actually pretty ~weLL-adjusteD~

of course he did really well on all his final exams while in school. he didn’t have perfect scores but all average or above. mostly, e’s and o’s, though. because of that, he was easily accepted into the healer program at st. mungo’s, which he is almost done completing. just call him dr. malfoy but actually don’t because ew he hates that because people do it to be a bag of dicks. 

first things first, scorpius is an old man and is horrible at technology. his parents really had no use for it. people try to teach him things beyond the basics and he’s like “(kanye shrug)”. also before he had friends, he dressed like a small wizarding grandpa. sweaters, fancy robes, lots of neutrals. he eventually discovered casual wear but he still definitely dresses nicely. he’s a malfoy, for merlin’s sake.

to most people, he can be a bit high-brow and impenetrable but to those that really know him, he’s actually pretty kind. he takes after his mother, who is honestly one of the most honest, open, influences. he takes an interest in the people he surrounds himself with. dude is a huge nerd and loves having intellectually stimulating conversations. but he also loves going out and having a good time, whether it’s to the pub or out on an adventure. he loves travelling and has been a bit stir-crazy with wanderlust since he graduated from hogwarts since he’s been so busy with his program. 

in pure intj fashion, he’s a nice mix between wondrous idealist and bitter old man cynic.

her family are indians that emigrated in the 2000′s that own ‘the sistine tandoori’ indian restaurant (it has a painted ceiling like the sistine chapel, except instead of the creation of adam, it has a painting of krishna handing arjuna a curry)

she lives in a joint family, which means it’s her, her parents, and her dad’s two brothers and their families living all together in the rooms above their restaurant (it’s a big restaurant)

she has 47659286 cousins and they all look like mr. world 2016 and the finalists for femina miss india 2016

dee’s a muggleborn and once she started showing signs of magic, her grannies took it as a sign that she was touched by kali ma and therefore needed to go to an ashram in india, but then she got her hogwarts letter and they begrudgingly let her go to hogwarts instead

they think the teaching at hogwarts is total bogus and have written neville hundreds of letters like ‘WHAT KIND OF MAGIC ARE YOU TEACHING? WHERE’S THE YOGA? WHERE’S THE SPIRIT POSSESSION? YOU DON’T EVEN SACRIFICE ANY GOATS.’

at hogwarts, dee got sorted into slytherin in like two seconds and basically spent her whole time in school hustlin’

if you didn’t get scammed out of money by dee, you were probably so poor she felt sorry for you

she’s pretty much the kind of person that could sell water to a drowning man

from bogus charity appeals, to an underground potions ring, she ran every scheme she could

she also ended up on the school paper, and pretty much just stirred up shit in hogwarts to give her something to write about

e.g. the time she goaded one of her friends to put on a guerilla/protest play called do the hippogriff: a weird sister’s musical, at the exact same time the frog choir and the hogwarts drama society did their annual christmas production

she also charged a sickle fifty for entrance and made a killing

she’s a magical rip off of louise belcher, i won’t lie

it worked out for her though, aged 18, she used her ill gotten gains to buy hypernexus shares at 6 sickles

out of hogwarts, she had a brief internship at the daily prophet but journalism’s no fun when you’re not directly influencing the stories, so she quit and ended up working for a magical advertising agency

which is great for her, since manipulating people into buying her bullshit is her super power, she might as well get paid for it

she’s a tiny indian don draper

she’s the physical embodiment of maniacal laughter, she’s super machiavellian and controlling, and yeah ok she’s super intelligent but it’s less stephen hawking intelligent and more lex luthor intelligent

she does care about people though, deep down

kipling (kip to his friends and his distaste) is a ravenclaw alumni, current cursebreaker who also dabbles in... invention? mostly in regard to some experimental wandmaking and testing the boundaries between muggle tech and magic. he likes to be useful and his inventions make him so to the group of... dare he say... friends? close friends? that he works with.

grew up with five siblings of various interests and houses, most of whom were a lot more gregarious and outgoing than he was. they were an Old Magic sort of family with hands in both muggle + magical ~society and so his behavior is um... learned to suit that kind of environment.

siblings were more interested than he was in things like “government” and “upholding the family name through servant-leadership” so he like. let them do that and continued with his own weird fascinations

he is still appropriately charming, collected, and proper. wicked at charms and reading a room.

in a long and convoluted chain of events, most of his family is dead! except for his younger sister, whom he would live and die for. (more on this... when we get into timeline/subplot stuff i suppose, but with hands in both pots, so to speak, and a prominent position in the world, the family found themselves. caught between a rock and a hard place, so to speak.)

externally it seems as if he might be a little over it and functioning as best... as one can with that whole situation. 

He’s Not Over It And Has Plans (mostly like... um... ones that are a little unsavory and vengeance-based)

thats him. luckily he rarely tells anyone anything about himself, including his more recent friends

he has the ambition of a slytherin but the curiousity of a ravenclaw. will absolutely put himself (and, tho less often, others) in harm’s way if it means he can witness/experience something New or Unheard Of. will do anything to satisfy a nagging question.

self-assured, a little bit of an anxious disaster, tends to lead with the head more than the heart, though he can be given to a little bit of melodramatics when he thinks... it’ll look cool

he’s not unfriendly, though he can get caught up in his own projects/interests (which run a little morbid). people sort of fascinate him so he’s up for making new connections as long as they don’t run too deep.

Rich and Paranoid

very interested in like... “progress” and what that can mean for the wizarding world and the world-at-large. he wants a hands-on role in building the future though he’s. hm. afraid of fucking it up.

can be a little holier-than-thou. loves being right which his friends hate because he’s always insufferable about it

trying (vaguely) to learn a little about forgiveness but at his core he’s just not interested in it at the moment! his friends will light the way, etc.
