spencer  leans  against  the  bar,  drink  in  hand  as  he  looks  out  into  the  crowd.  he's  only  two  drinks  deep,  which  isn't  a  lot,  but  his  daughter  is  also  here  and  he  didn't  want  to  seem  irresponsible.  the  same,  however,  could  not  be  said  about  the  man  next  to  him, allegedly six strawberry daiquiris in and making a complete fool of himself in the town group chat.  “  you  get  cut  off  yet,  or  what?  ”  he  ribs,  taking  a  sip  of  his  own  drink.

spencer  really  shouldn't  have accepted  his  co-worker's  offer  to  unwind  after  their  shift.  he  should've  just  gone  home,  laid  in  bed  with  his  cat,  and  spent  the  rest  of  his  night  doomscroling  on  social  media.  instead,  he  finds  himself  standing  next  to  the  one  person  he's  not  really  in  the  mood  to  see  right  now  (though,  when  is  he  ever?)  and  he  tries  to  fight  the  eyeroll,  but  he  can't  help  it.  “  don't  you  have  anything  better  to  do?  like  someone  else  to  bother  or  a  middle-aged  mom  to  fuck?  ”

“you  gonna  put  your  name  on  the  list?”  the  same  list  that  doesn't  have  any  more  names  on  it  than  last  time  he  checked  which  was  …  yesterday  -  or  the  day  before.  sage  stopped  keeping  track  of  the  days  since  before  highschool;  they  all  tend  to  blur  together.  something  something  having  fun  bleeblee  blah.  these  days,  he  only  keeps  track  by  the  lack  of  forgetting  to  take  prescribed  medication  and  how  many  times  the  bouncers  at  local  places  shake  their  heads  at  him  in  a  week  –  only  four,  this  time,  which  is  both  not  good  but  also  fantastic.  “i'm  sure  you've  got  plenty  of  …  moves  to  teach  ‘em,  yeah?  save  other  people  the  embarrassment  of  trying  out  against  you.”  or  something  like  that.  if  sullivan  vane  is  actually  good  at  dancing  -  or  teaching?  -  sage  doesn’t  know,  at  this  point  speaking  out  of  bordem.
