EMMA: i think that was the worst joke ive ever told in the history of my bad jokes

it was a rare occasion that heath didn’t have a shift at either of his jobs, so he took full advantage of his free time — knowing it would be awhile before he had the opportunity again. a close friend informed him that they were having a small get together and he decided it was probably the best way to spend his night. he’d been having a good time, getting to talk to friends he hadn’t seen in a while and even a few new people. things changed however when the door opened up again, he found himself walking over to the bottles of liquor on the counter as the brunette entered the apartment. “oh god.” heath muttered under his breath as he topped off his drink, just hoping maybe she wouldn’t notice his presence. 

                  ❝ one day, we’ll get outta here. ❞ out of this small town and its suburbs, its judgmental eyes. if cade could’ve afforded it sooner, he wouldn’t have hesitated to book a one way ticket and never look back. but he wasn’t fortunate enough, spent his days breaking his back at the car shop in attempt to merely make ends meet. when bills and bare necessities were barely able to hit the dinner table, a life away from the world they lived in seemed to be no more than a pipe dream.  ❝ change our names, be something more than the pity kids of perfectville, usa. ❞ / @sugarspill
