International day of women’s rights
Today is the international day of women’s right. It’s not the “day of the woman”. It’s not either the “day of the rights of the woman”. We can’t talk about one homogeneous entity living the same discriminations. There are womEn.
As a white woman, I will never endure the same discriminations and violence as women of color. As a cisgender woman, I will never endure the same discriminations and harassment as transgender women. I will never experience the same discriminations as a women who wears a hijab might experience. This is not an exhaustive list.
So yes, this day should be about being thankful to all the incredible women who fought and still fight for our rights, but we should also use that day to tell every one that there is no equality between men and women, but no equality between women either. When we talk about the “woman”, we forget it.
(As a woman, I don’t like when men talk in my place about the discriminations I subis as if he was living them. So I hope I’m not doing the same thing here, talking about women’s discrimination and don’t have to live through. If anyone want me to me to edit or delete this, just tell me)
