Sucuingender: an umbrella term describing all genders identities that are Subcultural In Nature (SUCUIN).
Etymology
The term Sucuingender is constructed to conform to other “-In Nature” terms (Mingender, Fingender, Ningender, Quingender, Roingender, Agingender, Xingender, Cuingender, Oingender, Keingender, etc.) The Acronym “SUCUIN” is taken from the “S”, first “U”, “C” and the second “U” of “Subcultural”, the “I” from “In” and the “N” from “Nature”. The acronym is combined with the neological suffix “-gender”, indicating genderedness. Coined by Gent (Gender-Jargon), 2022.
(Note: I originally conceived this term about a year ago, but I am just now getting around to making a post about it. I’ve used the tag #sucuin in the past, but never did I formally define the term until now)
Elaboration
A subculture refers to a smaller culture that exists within a larger parent culture, differentiating itself by having belief, interests, values and/or traditions that vary from the larger cultural norm. Subcultures, though distinct from their parent culture, still maintain some of it’s characteristics. A subculture maintains the prevailing ideas of the mainstream to some degree; they are simply deviating from common practice in some way (and to varying extents).
There have been many, many subcultures, with new ones constantly emerging. Some example of subcultures in the U.S. include, but are not limited to: athletes & bodybuilders, kinksters & the BDSM scene, skaters, surfers, cosplayers, nudists, juggalos, otherkin, equestrians, lolita fashion, furry fandom, anime/manga fans, goth, emo, scene and other media-based and/or aesthetically centered alternative scenes, the body modification community, etc.
Sucuingenders are related to one’s participation within a given subculture, and as a result, are exclusive to members of the subculture. In other words, one must participate/affiliate with the subculture in question to identify with it’s sucuingender. If a subculture is derived from a closed culture, the exclusivity of the identity is compounded by this. Participation in and/or identification with the subculture is what distinguishes sucuingenders from aesthetigenders.
Flag
The flag was created at the same time as the term by the coiner. The flag contained seven thin, horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, the colors of the stripes are black, yellow, leaf green, turquoise, violet, crimson and black. The colors have the following meanings:
The top and bottom black stripes represent judgement, discrimination, social othering and the quality of holding an ideology that stands separately from the mainstream culture.
The yellow stripe represents comradery, belonging and identity.
The spring green stripe represents vitality, life and livelihood.
The turquoise stripe represents uniqueness and culture.
The indigo stripe represents non-conformity and variation/deviation from the norm.
The crimson stripe represents personal freedom and autonomy.
