Adelaide had first heard about Ralph in the weeks after he had been attacked by a group of drunk men, resulting in her almost being killed and left with severe scarring on a majority of her body, scars that couldn't be fixed. After she was repaired, the woman who saved her offered her an opportunity to help androids like her who needed help and comfort, which would essentially give her a job and even a place to live.
She would visit Jericho often and during those visits she was told about an android named Ralph. He was described as skittish and nervous, very paranoid and he had a tendency to become aggressive, but no matter what, he seemed to have good intentions. It was explained to her that he had been severely damaged, resulting in slight malfunctions that caused him to have such fluctuations in his personality and the more Adelaide learned about him, the more she wanted to meet him.
She asked about where she could find him and she was given directions to an old abandoned house across from a convenience store and a hotel, and that was what brought her to the idea of going to look for him, carrying a tool bag full of thirium, bandages, a couple cloths and a few repair tools in case they were needed. When she had found the house that Ralph supposedly lived in, she approached the door slowly, contemplating whether she should knock on the door or simply go inside, so she stood there and pondered her decision as she rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet.
