Thought I’d show you what to do with double headed rosettes! If you want to separate them, that is, if you want to keep them as a big clump feel free! I love a big clump just as much as single rosettes. :)
Here we have an Echeveria elegans, it has two heads (Picture 1)! Thankfully these two have some good roots on them (I washed all the soil off of them and let them dry for awhile, I’m repotting and they were in some really rich soil which isn’t good for them.) and they have a nice joining stem (Picture 2). I cut it down the middle with a sharp knife that I’ve washed (and sprayed a little bit of alcohol on to make sure it’s clean).Thankfully I was able to cut them so that each of them got some roots (Picture 3), that doesn’t always happen and it’s totally okay for one head to be rootless, it will grow more! A sharp knife makes for a clean cut with no broken edges which is what I like and will be easier for the plant to heal over. I’ll sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on their wound to help it dry out a little faster and I’ll leave them to sit for awhile before I pot them up. They’ll be potted with dry soil and left dry for a week before I water them for the first time. They should both do well :)
